A philosophical theme?
Maybe for a decadent Internet-killing-time like me it is.
It can be even possible to describe the way a thread starts here: a question, a remark, a provocation.... it goes well as for the next two or three threads but then it starts growing branches badly in many directions.

I mean, I am not sure if it is lack of capacity of everybody to be focused on the subject discussed or it is just that the nature of this website or the bloody entire web unable any good discussion to go on for the benefit of everyone. It is though damned-Jesus frustrating.. Is it that nothing can be quite brain exciting in the Internet? mumbling

I think then to conclude (and not to be out focus too) the nature of that infernal new technological toy is the one controlling these threads and their lamentable trajectory until they die down....
IN the end it is not only the threads here but any other stupid thing one does in the web just to forget our alonness and kill our time in this planet...

I understand what you mean about threads taking a life of their own at times. Sometimes, that's the charm of them. Some do stay on track, though...and some die off too soon. Nonsense threads seem to go on forever, though...but we all need a bit of play in between the heavy stuff, so that's okay.

Yes, this is to help forget and deal with my aloneness, connect with my friends, and kill time when I don't feel like tackling the list of many things that need to get done around here. laugh I have the next several days off, so I'll get needed work done, too...today I chose to do light housework and play most of the day.

I think this is Religious, Spirituality and Philosophy...anyway
Good point raised!
Namely, it is just that our points of view always try to stand out. I warned at the beginning that I took it as a philosophical piece of shit of a decadent one ... and I mean that.
Anyway, misunderstanding based on personal anxiety to have a voice is one of the key ingredients of our speaking different languages even when we think we speak the same one.
Almost everybody having a partner must have experience that.
(And I am not moving one centimetre yet away from the subject of this thread though I will...soon!!)

Well that's where I believe if you want your thread to remain on topic it helps to be a part of it, and if it strays off topic then ask them to please remain on subject. No harm in that.professor

I did not mean any criticism for anyone choosing forgetting alonness or chores, or just killing time. I only meant criticism for myself though anyone agreeing with my points would feel the same.
You said that nonsensical threads last forever and I personally find erratic gigling irritating (and I just choose to stay away).

I just meant at the beginning of this thread that it would be good to see some good exciting and instructive threads (a few of them turn up every now and then) as an option but then I reflected that this kind of communication (the Internet) shuts off that possibility. Just think of the timing involved with the writing a good post ... in the meantime the discussion is already branched off....

laugh A thread moderator? always saying..."your post is off the subject!"
I do not think I could even control the threads I start. Anyway I will try once.

Ok thanks but I do not think the mud scares me. I like it most of the time.. even more I am a professional at rolling in the mud, sticking my nose inside and feeling a strange pleasure of being alive. I already said that. I am decadent being and decadent ones have this kind of stupid features and arsenic-like taste.wine

Yes, and the beginning I also pointed out that this is not a simple fault of us (to get out of focused) but this type ofcommunication: the Internet. It, as a human product, has deepened our ability to be out of focus, superficial and unable to understand one another.

And talking about the mud... uhhmmmm...better say nothing... I ma just trying to be rigidly stuck to the topic....laugh laugh laugh

I didn't take it as any criticism at all. I love the forums, and have had my own take on a life of their own while I was sleeping, and by the time I tried to get them to stop the mud-slinging, it was too late, but oh well. It is what it is.

I love the spiritual and philosophical threads, they're my faves, but I leave when the mud-slinging starts in them. I also love the nonsense threads. On a day like today, they're fun. Other times, I don't go in because I stick to the serious ones due to limited time then. The jokes are great, I read those as often as possible because laughter is good for the soul.

There is Usenet for philosophical and religious and political threads. This is a dating site and by its very nature tends to be light. This wasn't a response to you Dru it was to the OP who was already banned after one very ugly day on here-I remember it well as does Conrad.... I don't come here for deep thought I come here to pass the time with fun/interesting/funny ppl.
