I have this hypothesis - that Christmas has always been celebrated.......... not just for the last couple of thousand years!

It's ever since some guy or wise old lady reckoned that the longest day was now over and it might be a cool idea to share some stuff like a bit of bison fat or whatever and maybe everybody would be better off working together in the future.

Naturally that all went out of the window come the Springtime when people started getting greedy, and the men started competing again for the young nubile unattached women.

Oh well, hope springs eternal for most of us - and Christians and other religious people and atheists should put aside their differences and pretend they like each other once in a while!

Some people either really want to make a difference for the good or really want power over their fellow human beings - there are two/three routes for most of these types.... politics, a career as a religious leader or a leader of the community through amassing great wealth or sometimes a combination of all three!

Some leaders are good and some are evil - but WE must take individual responsibility if we choose to be led.

Let's hope that we choose to be led by good leaders and have the guts to stand up to leaders who are 'evil'.

Merry Christmas - and may the logic of ultimate self-interest help make you act kindly towards all you meet in your journey through life!

It's a sunny Christmas Day, but rain forecast and it isn't warm in the winter.... it feels colder inside than out due to high walls, crap insulation and no central heating!

The old houses had really thick walls with a big gap filled with rubble to keep the heat inside (and keep cool in the heat of summer).......... more modern buildings (i.e. less than 40 years old) tend to have much thinner walls - double glazing is now law for all new buildings but not yet enforced.

We really need central heating in the winter and air-conditioning in the summer............ but yes, it's mostly warm and only feels really cold for a couple of months each year! thumbs up

That's true - I am 'very blessed' in many ways, but most of the income goes in paying for carers and nurses to look after my paralysed mother........... and what with the US dollar and pound sterling going down against the euro (Malta is in the euro zone) all I keep seeing is income going down and expenditure going up - but then many people have lost everything this year, so who am I to complain?
