Y"all need to understand something about me.. I have HAD sick relationships..

I will settle for nothing but a healthy, independent relationship..

Interdependence is for the children...

Now I am of the same thought as you...it can be taken too far and trust between partners has to be present...I don't care to have friendship with one who doesn't support my relationship or my boundaries but as long as those are respected then...yes I expect my partner to support my opposite sex friendships and I will support his...however if in either case they begin to interfere with our relationship then they should be re-evaluated by a discussion between the two of us....after all our relationship should be the most important thing to both of us...if not then I don't see the point...It's also realizing that no matter how underhanded others can be...your partner loves you enough and you trust them enough to say no...regardless of what might transpire...and if they don't...then it's time to get out....

Well exactly...the last I looked I didn't...I didn't consult with anyone else when making decisions in my relationship.....well that's when I have had one....

Whatever works should be between the two people. I am in favor of have both male and female friends and if my partner didn't like it, well he wouldn't be the one for 'ME'. If two people prefer the other way then right on, it should be respected.
