druidess6308: (Helen Reddy and Ray Burton)
I am woman, hear me roar
In numbers too big to ignore
And I know too much to go back an' pretend
'Cause I've heard it all before
And I've been down there on the floor
No one's ever gonna keep me down again

Oh yes, I am wise
But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to
I can do anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman

You can bend but never break me
'Cause it only serves to make me
More determined to achieve my final goal
And I come back even stronger
Not a novice any longer
'Cause you've deepened the conviction in my soul

Oh, yes, I am wise
But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to
I can face anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman

I am woman watch me grow
See me standing toe to toe
As I spread my lovin' arms across the land
But I'm still an embryo
With a long, long way to go
Until I make my brother understand

Oh, yes, I am wise
But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to
I can face anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman

Oh, I am woman
I am invincible
I am strong

I am woman
I am invincible
I am strong
I am woman

Thank you, Sis. It's actually one of the few I can sing well, too, if I get drunk enough to consider karaoke. laugh

Seriously, it really is my theme song for me. It's what life has taught me. So...some might thing it's corny, and it's certainly been made fun of enough...but I still think it's an awesome song. I've been bent, but never broken. I have gained wisdom from all of my pain. And I can face anything. I've learned that well. And I appreciate it well. wine

druidess6308: I'm sorry to hear about your hurt, too.

Thanks - you're really very kind. I've never read anything from your posts that wouldn't have boosted a soul and put a smile on his or her face. I shouldn't be listening to Pandora when I run across threads like this. I'm past it for the moment. Besides, I left him (no regrets), but the tune still coats me in nostalgia.

Thank you. hug And yes, I know songs like that. "The Dance" by Garth Brooks and "Who Knew" by Pink, for example. I'm over the loss of my late husband, and moving on with life, but those songs still have meaning for me. "Your Song" by Elton John still makes me nostalgic, too...it was his song to me, and there are parts of it that were so fitting, and I still get nostalgic. And there are others...they bring back the memories, and I pause for a moment and gaze upon them again, just for that moment. I'm sure we all have those moments.

I DON'T WANNA MISS A THING ------ AEROSMITH

I could stay awake ,just to hear you breathing
Watch you smile while you are sleeping...while you're far away
and dreaming
I could spend my life in this sweet surrender
I could stay lost in this moment forever
Every moment I spend with you is a moment I treasure

Don't wanna close my eyes, don't wanna fall asleep
'Cause I miss you babe and I don't wanna miss a thing
'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream will never do, I'll still miss you babe
And I don't wanna miss a thing

Lying close to you feeling your heart beating
And I'm wondering what you are dreaming
Wondering if it's me you're seeing
Then I kissed your eyes and thank God we're together
I just wanna stay with you in this moment forever
Forever and ever

Don't wanna close my eyes, don't wanna fall asleep
'Cause I miss you baba and I don't wanna miss a thing
'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream will never do, I'll still miss you babe
And I don't wanna miss a thing

And I don't wanna miss one smile
I don't wanna miss one kiss
I just wanna be right here with you, just like this
I just wanna hold you close
Feel your heart so close to mine
And just wanna stay in this moment for all the rest of time

YEAH...YEAH...YEAH....

Chorus twice
druidess6308 Reverse, Pennsylvania USA
Yes indeed Im alone again
And here comes emptiness crashing in
Its either love or hate
I cant find in between
Cause Ive been with witches
And I have been with a queen

It wouldnt have worked out any way
So now its just another lonely day
Further along we just may
But for now its just another lonely day

Wish there was something
I could say or do
I can resist anything
But temptation from you
But Id rather walk alone
Than chase you around
Id rather fall myself
Than let you drag me down

It wouldnt have worked out any way
And now its just another lonely day
Further along we just may
But for now its just another lonely day

Yesterday seems like a life ago
Cause the one I love
Today I hardly know
You I held so close in my heart oh dear
Grow further from me
With every fallen tear

It wouldnt have worked out any way
So now its just another lonely day
Further along we just may
But for now its just another lonely day

And Sassy...I love that song by Aerosmith. Someday maybe I'll find someone with whom I can feel that. For now, it reminds me of when my sons were babies. I didn't want to miss a moment...even watching them sleep was heaven. wine

I resonate with this song sung by a lady named Nanci Griffith.

I KNEW LOVE
(Roger Brown)

I knew love
When it still meant forever
When a feeling shared didn't always
have to hurt
And a promise that was made would
go unbroken
I knew love
When it was more than just a word

I knew a time
When hope was all you needed
And if you cared you found a way to
make things work
When life was what two people
shared together
Oh, I knew love
When it was more than just a word

(chorus)
I knew love
When I could still believe
It was the greatest power in
the world
I knew love
When it was more than just a word
I knew hearts
When they made it all so easy
And sad goodbyes were seldom
ever heard
When I wouldn't have to read this
note that says you're leaving
I knew love
When it was more than just a word

(repeat chorus)

I knew love when it was
more than just a word

Thank You India by Alanis MOrrisette.

How about getting off of these antibiotics
How about stopping eating when I'm filled up
How about them transparent dangling carrots
How about that ever elusive kudo

Thank you India
Thank you terror
Thank you disillusionment
Thank you frailty
Thank you consequence
Thank you thank you silence

How about me not blaming you for everything
How about me enjoying the moment for once
How about how good it feels to finally forgive you
How about grieving it all one at a time

Thank you India
Thank you terror
Thank you disillusionment
Thank you frailty
Thank you consequence
Thank you thank you silence

The moment I let go of it was
The moment I got more than I could handle
The moment I jumped off of it was
The moment I touched down

How about no longer being masochistic
How about remembering your divinity
How about unabashedly bawling your eyes out
How about not equating death with stopping

Thank you India
Thank you providence
Thank you disillusionment
Thank you nothingness
Thank you clarity
Thank you thank you silence

yeah yeah
ahh ohhh
ahhh ho oh
ahhh ho ohhhhhh

Just going through some stuff. Not even sure what right now. Go figure. hug Thanks, though, g/f. Just wearing my heart out here on my CS sleeve. Don't I always these days? But it gives others a way to do it too if they want. wine

Ooh...thank you, Dawn. I love Alanis. Here's my fave by her, and maybe even the most appropriate for right now for me.

"Ironic"

An old man turned ninety-eight
He won the lottery and died the next day
It's a black fly in your Chardonnay
It's a death row pardon two minutes too late
And isn't it ironic... don't you think

It's like rain on your wedding day
It's a free ride when you've already paid
It's the good advice that you just didn't take
Who would've thought... it figures

Mr. Play It Safe was afraid to fly
He packed his suitcase and kissed his kids goodbye
He waited his whole damn life to take that flight
And as the plane crashed down he thought
"Well isn't this nice..."
And isn't it ironic... don't you think

It's like rain on your wedding day
It's a free ride when you've already paid
It's the good advice that you just didn't take
Who would've thought... it figures

Well life has a funny way of sneaking up on you
When you think everything's okay and everything's going right
And life has a funny way of helping you out when
You think everything's gone wrong and everything blows up
In your face

A traffic jam when you're already late
A no-smoking sign on your cigarette break
It's like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife
It's meeting the man of my dreams
And then meeting his beautiful wife
And isn't it ironic...don't you think
A little too ironic...and, yeah, I really do think...

It's like rain on your wedding day
It's a free ride when you've already paid
It's the good advice that you just didn't take
Who would've thought... it figures

Life has a funny way of sneaking up on you
Life has a funny, funny way of helping you out
Helping you out

Thank you, Dawn. Just feeling some mixed emotions today. And I want to state clearly here that "Ironic" isn't speaking to any particular thing. Just an overview of how life often seems. I don't want anyone making any erroneous misunderstandings regarding that post.

I understand it's too easy for us to all jump to conclusions when we haven't even met each other in person. There is so much more going on in all of us on different levels than can be adequately expressed on this computer screen.

Next:
"I Got You Babe" by Sonny and Cher

HER: They say we're young and we don't know
We won't find out until we grow
HIM: Well I don't know if all that's true
'Cause you got me, and baby I got you

HIM: Babe
BOTH: I got you babe
I got you babe

HER: They say our love won't pay the rent
Before it's earned, our money's all been spent
HIM: I guess that's so, we don't have a pot
But at least I'm sure of all the things we got

HIM: Babe
BOTH: I got you babe
I got you babe

HIM: I got flowers in the spring
I got you to wear my ring
HER: And when I'm sad, you're a clown
And if I get scared, you're always around

HER: Don't let them say your hair's too long
'Cause I don't care, with you I can't go wrong
HIM: Then put your little hand in mine
There ain't no hill or mountain we can't climb

HIM: Babe
BOTH: I got you babe
I got you babe

HIM: I got you to hold my hand
HER: I got you to understand
HIM: I got you to walk with me
HER: I got you to talk with me
I got you to kiss goodnight
I got you to hold me tight
I got you, I won't let go
I got you to love me so

BOTH: I got you babe
I got you babe
I got you babe
I got you babe
I got you babe
