Volunteering at 4H fairs and spending some time in DIY stores like Home Depot or something like that comes to mind....
What else do guys like to do in your neck of the woods ? Just go there too and mingle....

Take classes at your local community college or other educational institution. I am taking Italian right now, along with some other classes: a tennis league and advanced tennis class which is co-ed.
Also: volunteer. There are numerous organizations that need volunteer help, just find one that is a fit for you. These types of organizations are great for meeting like minded people. Get out in your community and take advantage of local parks and recreation offerings.

I am shameless, I bumped into this big fireman in the store up the street last night...on purpose. He had an arful of cans. I helped him pick them up, and "pretended to be sorry" I got invited to his birthday party.

The Post Office in the South of France...

I was very hot and trying to explain in poor French I needed a money order to send back to the UK....non comprehend!
By this time I am melting on the floor, my bikini and shorts sre stuck to me with sweat, red in the face and must have looked dire when a Canadian and American guy stepped in to help me and the guy from Canada spoke fluent French.

The guy from Canada had to go but the American said would you like to grab a cold drink....thinking yes what do I say here....but well over 100 degrees, I need a drink and how safe can I be sat with a hundred other people at an outside street cafe he bought me an iced tea. We chatted for three hours and yes we saw each other several times more although we are just friends.

So get to the post office, store and smile you never know it could be an eventful afternoon.
