yubba: THE ROOT OF ALL PROBLEMS

!!!!RELIGION!!!!

The issue in the middle east is far beyond religion. If the Palestine/Iraqi confrontation is due to religion , then I wonder what U would attribute the Iraqi/Iran war to. Religion?

pretzelman Las Vegas, Nevada USA
Yes....it was based in large upon religion. The different sects are frequently at war!!thumbs up

Agreed there are different sects in the muslim community (just like there are different sects in any organised religion U can think of). However, they still read the same Koran.
Those different sects found in Iraq/Iran are also found in Saudi, Dubai, Egypt and even Turkey!!!

People do a lot of shit in the guise of religion and the sooner we begin to get wise to that the better.

I think that religion played a role in the Iran/Iraq war. Follow me a little. After Khomenie came back to Iran, Sadam was sitting next to a country that was going to export revolutionary Islam....both around the world and in the middle east.

This was something that could swallow him and ruling Hussien family up.

He comes to the US...saying I am a secretarian...a non practicing
Muslim. Has meetings with Rumsfield and others seeking the military aid to defend himself from Iran, and the Revolutionary
Islam it was exporting. Saying...Iraq can be the balancing power in the middle east to Iran.

The US bad in reading the tea leaves in the bottom of the middle east cup, supports him...provides military aid to Iraq. Placing the US on the bad guy list of Iran.

Only Sadam is a Muslim and a pretty strong one. Later, he has the Koran written in his own blood. Attends prayer sessions around Iraq, in the various Mosques, and supports various Muslim religious activities in the country. About the only thing he does not do....is go on a Hajid to Mecca.

Why? Saudi Arabia ruling family. He has a real problem with them.
Also the Iran/Irag war breaks out....if I am not mistaken....a Muslim leader cannot attend a Hajid if he is war with a fellow Muslim country.

By the way...the problem with the Saudi Royal family....places him on the good guy list of one, Osama bin Laden.

And now when he is captured and in court. You don't see a sectretarian Muslim there. He requests court suspend for daily prayers....will not attend on Muslim holy days.....etc, etc, etc.

Some have said religion touches everything in the middle east.
It had a role in the Iran/Iraq war in my opinion.

This may be the BEST time to discuss this topic and resolve that 2009 all this hostility ends and Palistine will have their own country and Israel can live in peace. That's all they want anyway.
get a grip dooby....the, so called, palestinians DO have there own country....they are made up of egyptians, syrians and jordainians....there no more palestinian than i amprofessor rolling on the floor laughing

I don't believe Sadam is doing too much traveling these days!

Yes l would................you need to be old enough to understand that 'almost' all problems are religion based. Look back and you will clearly see sectarian or religious problems have had the most dreadful effects on people that are not connected with these problems.

Before all the 'religious nuts' start..............l do have respect for ALL people whatever their beliefs and my companies in the past have supported religious causes.

dazzling_dave: If Egypt, Jordan or Syria were to give up land in order for the Palestinians to have a country, Israel would still be in existence. That is why these countries will not allow their own countrymen back into their country. This has always been about wiping Israel from the face of the earth.

Who broke the latest cease-fire. Therein may lie the problem.

dunno

We have a 100% agreement on that.

Thinking about this a little more. Sadam never ended the Mytars week in Najaf or other Muslim Holy activities in Iraq. The three son in law murders could easily be considered 'honor killings'. He did not get on AlSydar and his Mehdi Army. There is religious implications to each of those.

Sadam either tried to use Islam or he tried to be part of it later in his life.jmo

Sociopaths use anything they can find...including religeon. Rather than blaming it totally on religeon, maybe look to the personalities that manipulate the religeon.

I believe it was Hamas. Seems like it was Hamas last time too. Funny though, how Hamas breaks the cease fire, then when Israel retaliates they look to us to back Israel down.
