World War three is and has been in the works for far too long already. The initiator that gets the public award for 'starting' it will be whichever one flinches first or is struck hardest by personal losses in the grand game of manipulation they have all been playing like a gigantic chess match.
Once it overtly crests there can in truth be no winners as the powers that be have ammasses far too great an arsenal to not wipe us all out with collateral damages regardless of where the actual ground zero is.
In truth the whole thing would be humerous (in a Hollywood desensitization manner of course) if it were not altogether too real and in each of our back yards.

One point of correction.....the only thing that will be destroyed is us all and life as we know it......

Even if this planet is turned into a burnt out nuclear cinder, it will survive, and it will still exist and it will re-invent itself eventually.

May take a few hundreds of thousands of years, but it will evolve again into a life supporting system. That is only a slight twitch in the millions of years that the planet has been there, with it's various stages and changes that it underwent.

It is OUR survival we have to seriously worry about, not the planet's.

It was a shame when the old spirit of "Power To The People!" died at the end of the 60's...oh what a world it could have been had everyone really believed in it. Who knows, perhaps it can still be 'resurrected' even at this late date if peoples around the world can truly understand what is at stake...and think collectively about what they could do as in can we stop the destruction of our planet...'yes we can!'...can we stop, can we bring down these governments that wish, want and need war...'yes we can!'
Can WE, the peoples of Earth stop these governments, can we 'rise up and revolt'...'yes we can!' But do we really believe it... or do we collectively just stand by like sheep and watch our own slaughter...unfortunately, tragically, the answer to that is also 'yes, we can...'

Russia today makes most of it's income by selling gas to the EU.

China's economy is entirely based on it's exports to western countries.

Do you seriously believe that any of the above are going to go into nuclear holocaust simply because of issues like Iran? If Iran ever comes close to being a real threat all that will happen is that Russia will tell it to shut up and it will.

Considering that it is Russia who holds the technology and the supply to Iran. If Russia pulls the plug out of it's support to Iran the country will stop evolving.

And do you seriously think that Russia will go into full confrontation with the western world? When it is already being considered as the furthest point of the EU for all intents and purposes?

Yeah....I basically would agree with this scenario....seen as a total, dinosaurs came and went, as did other life forms over millions of years...their demise all caused by natural events...our demise will come from our own making...but the planet will continue in some shape or other...probably round...
