In these enlightened times where we are treat all equally; then etiquette should demand we are both polite/courteous at same time and we share that around.

Therefore who ever gets to the door 1st should open it for the other.

And the toilet paper should always be wound front first

Also leave toilet seat up. Saves opening it when you want to sit down... otherwise you will end up with nasty surprise.

Sweetkim, You are very smart to demand politeness from a partner. Using manners requires humility, which requires inner strength. Manners also require intelligence. Be true to yourself, don't date an idiot.

If both male and female close toilet seat and lid after use, then we both start off and end as equals.

I agree that buth parties should be polite. If I get to the door first of course I would open it. I make sure to give compliments just as much and to say thank you! I don't demand someone to be polite but I hope that they want to take me out they will sweep me off my feet to make me feel special like I said earlier not to leave me behind when its time to leave somewhere and give someone an opportunity to mug me lol I want to feel safe and like someone said for him to show off some masculinuty *thats not a word* lol. But I do agree both should be polite!

hmmm
I actually meant lid... sorry (my ex would complain about lid even though daughters would do same and leave lid up)

So..If you both leave it (lid) up to start with..is that not the same starting off as equalls?

Sparky55: I always try to have good manners and don't recall any woman get ticked off for being polite.

I respect a man who is courteous, and polite. I want doors opened. I'm that woman. I'm southern and expect a gentleman.

No, I never get ticked off at politeness, Jerry. thumbs up

realvyguy: WOMEN (not girls) will know the difference between chivalry and a "guy" being condescending. Guys tripping over their own two feet will not be attractive either way.

That's right! I know chivalry when I see it!

I have read everything up to this point and would just like to add...A) the toilet paper goes over the top, not under...B) the seat should be put down by both men and women ( evens things up for both)... and lastly...C) any lady worth taking on a true date would appreciate a man acting like a gentleman and not like he lives like a bear with furniture. We want to be treated special, cherished, and with respect. So if you want to take a LADY out, don't bring coupons(!), mind your manners, leave the bodily functions out of ear and nose shot ( ie do like we do...in the bathroom), make good conversation and show interest in her, and tell her how pretty she looks. After that, men, the rest is easy. You have our attention and probably rate as a top "dater" for us. Or at least that's what I believe. Happy New Year!
