Shirley49WV: I would could never find the marriage that my parents have. People just don't feel the same these day or so it appears. But I loved having a meal on the table when the kids and my ex came home. Being involved in the boy and girl scouts with my kids. (many years ago of course) I had a home cooked meal every night on the table. Now I rarely cook cause why cook for one?

I was chatting online with a man friend of mine and in so many words told me that he hadn't known or met a women who wanted/liked being a homemaker.

I still haven't gotten out of the habit of cooking meals for 4 people so I freeze alot of leftovers.laugh laugh

I could never be a housewife again. No way, no how. I am good at it, but I am set in my ways now and I LOVE living alone. I tride tice and I just can't be a babysitter for any man. This may sound synical but I did ALL the work and they know it. No going for a third. JMO.wave handshake

It'll be two yrs this coming Feb that he passed away and I'm way past the grieving end of it now.reality set in and I realized I'm not quite ready for a love relationship right now. I thought I was.

But because of some encouraging words from a certain gentleman member from this site I've come to realize that life does go on. That I have to take care of me first and foremost and get my life in order and when I'm ready for a relationship again I'll know. Plus I'm convinced that my late husband would want to see me happy and to go on with my life whatever it may be.

What works for some does not work for others and that is your right. I was satisfied with being a house wife and mother. Does not mean that I wanted to suck the blood out of him or not work. I wanted to go back to school in the early years but he would not hear of it.

Two years is not that long to have lost your husband/partner.
I am glad that you have met someone from here that has given you the confidence/strength to move forward in your life. Sounds to me like your on the right path.

I have thought about it but feel that I would not have the schooling paid before I died. Some humor in that...lol. That is great that your mother is like that I applaud her for that.

Where I come from----You can get a student loan as a 'mature student'. I did it ! I would do it again if my health would allow it. *I hate school anyway*.laugh

I've always wanted to be a nurse. But since I am a unit secretary and see all they go though, I don't know about that anymore. I would be one that wanted time with my patient and nurses just don't have that these days. They have to many patients to give good quality care. That is what has turned me off...

I know, everyone wants something different and i respect that.

I absolutely love kids, so much, i can't contain it. I would however, want to do something in the daytime, while they're at school.

I'm sorry you didn't go back to school, but now you can do what you have always dreamed of.

It's nice to talk to devoted mums/parents. It really inspires me.

I wanted to do that too but my ex did not like the thoughts of that. dunno So I was the obedient wife and did what he wanted.

I have been thinking more in the lines of maybe physical therapy here lately. Time will tell. But thank you for your response hug

Did you ever think that is why they need you? I am on widow's allowance and disabilty but I can work for short spurts. I just told my my stepmother, if she wants to pay my way to look after her brother in Toronto, give me 24 hours notice and I am there. (She has a gazillion airmiles.) I enjoy that. Go for it! I can't! I am physically disabled to any fulltinme job anymore.

Hi Arlene you've always been so nice to me and have always had some very nice things to me. I apprecite the compliment about me being strong and that i seem to have a grip on everything but... I really don't have a grip on everything as yet.I do have somemore pretty big steps to climb and some things to work out but slowly but surely I'll get there.I think of it as climbing up a mountain where you may you loose your grip every once in awhile but you hold steady and just keep on climbing til hoepfully you reach the top.

As for the friendship I have in this person. He's been there for me and I doubt if I could've found a better friend.

I'd much rather have acouple of real true friendships then a bunch of people who really weren't my friends.

When I ended up to be a single parent, I went baqck to school and worked part time and I made it. A guy I was seing on and off for the last six years told me "that is not possible and you are a liar"doh I couldn't do it now , but I did then. SOME men.frustrated They couldn't do it.
