That was sooo funny.

The German in me me is saying "Vy are they not szticking mit the thread topic.."

The "roles" mean different things to different people. and they are not always gender specific. I think roles and "who does the laundry" are two different things.

That is it CT, we have to protect our household goods when allowing a new one into our life.

I guard my iron with my life, nobody is allowed to use until I say so.

There was no Mr. Hoover. the founder's name for this Company was Spangler.
The Hoover Company started out as an American floor care manufacturer based in North Canton, Ohio. It also established a major base in the United Kingdom and for most of the early-and-mid-20th century, it dominated the electric vacuum cleaner industry, to the point where the "hoover" brand name became synonymous for vacuum cleaners and vacuuming in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The Hoover Company in the United States was part of the Whirlpool Corporation but sold in 2006 to Techtronic Industries for $107 million. Hoover UK/Europe (split from Hoover U.S. in 1993) is owned and operated by the Brugherio, Italy-based Candy company. It continues to use the original Hoover logo.

I don't believe in roles either, because, well, it just goes back to old traditions as the man having supreme dominance over women --just slacking up ever-so-often each generation until we are at the point we've reached, exceeded and still struggle to press beyond (woman's rights, unfair pay/ gender bias). Just an observation I've made since my existence.

Back then, a man wouldn't dare have a wife making more than him because it made him seem weak and incapable as the ruling head, so, while he's off making those ends meet, the wife made sure all the house hold duties were managed. Now that women have careers and are power players, personally, I see no reason for said roles. They've proven they are equal. I can clean the toilet and prepare dinner just like she can mow the lawn and take out the trash.

I agree with you there, wahrheit.

The notion of 'roles' probably runs into something perhaps described as 'natural' and maybe even 'instinctive', something that people fall into without being directed. The animal kingdom do this brilliantly, and without question or confusion. Doing the laundry is a matter of delegated sharing of duties.

I agree about equality as human beings. However, you do remind me of one basic difference between man and women, and that is in general, physical strength.

Actually, there is a second, and that is, again, not making a blanket statement here, but generally, men tend to be more mechanically minded, though I am not averse to assembly the odd IKEA product!laugh JMO
