I think we can learn so much about people from the forums and as you say, some will like you and some wont.

I agree completely. I do love the written word, but it can be easy to misinterpret. Mainly because if we were to write all our thoughts down at the time, we would need to write chapter length emails. Guaranteed that the recipient prolly would not read it all.

That said, as long as communication remains open, all can be sorted out even with the written word, without too much damage. Though I have recently experienced some exchanges with one man recently, that I can only be describe as bordering close to traumatic, and all over the written word.

I personally don't support the idea of jumping on the telephone after a couple of emails. In fact, I do not like to IM without first exchanging many emails. My CS 'IM' is switched off for that purpose. I am not interested, and say that on my profile (well, that is a misnomer as I only have quotes from a children's book on there). Most IM I use is with GF's here on CS. And that is pure delight.
