Thomas Nelson Publishing (who puts out various versions of the Bible--The NASB, ASV, RSV, NJKV, and the NCV) Has over the past few years, also been producing and marketing bible "newsletters" to our younger generation (primarily teens).
Boasting their "accuracy of biblical translations" and promoting "the word", Thomas Nelson Publishing distributes "Revolve"--a bible and newsletter for teen girls (the cover resembles "CosmoGirl" and "Teen Beat", and "Refuel"--a newsletter for teen boys.
These periodicals contain a copy of The NASB (Which has already been determined to have words and ENTIRE passsages ommitted). It also has "Christian Teen Q & A's" (Much like any other girl's magazine)
Here is an example of a question and answer in one of the editions.....
In response to: "Q: Hey, how do you tell a friend that's your crush that you're into him without ruining your relationship?
A: You don't, Sorry. God made guys the leader."
On the same token, "Refuel" also contains a copy of the bible.
It tells teen boys that gambling is ok as long as it's in moderation.
And DOES NOT condemn underage drinking.
In response to: Underage drinking? THat's a hard question. Jesus made water into wine afterall
But "Refuel" also states (in the same answer to underage drinking) that it IS illegal. And to just "Be careful.
In response to: "Q: What do you do if you get to a party and find out that everybody is drinking beer and pounding shots?
A: Be responsible and know your limitations."
NOTICE THEY DON"T SAY LEAVE THE PARTY?!?!?!
Also in "Refuel" is a list on how to be a "Godly Boy"
In response to: 1. Don't hit girls.
2. Don't chew with your mouth open.
3. Don't belch.
4. Don't be arrogant.
5. Don't backstab.
6. A godly boy knows his boy is a temple of God.
7. A godly boy respects others.
8. Don't ditch your family.
9. Don't talk smut.
10. And a godly boy is loyal to his friends.
A far cry from the ten commandments. (myself? I'm a sinner because of #3)
