To whom it may concern:

I'm the dark as to why this is going on between these two.confused Maybe I haven't been following this part of the news, but as it has escalated...makes me wonder what the real issue is.dunno

Is this one being a bully towards the other, just because they can? For the sake of good for all, or another selfish action for their own sake?

If someone could enlighten me on the issues, professor of why or why not...I would appreciate it.

Thanks, and all have a great day.

I'll take a stab at it John.

Jews have always considered the region of Israel their home. However, they, like the Palestinians haven't been too good at keeping it as their home or, keeping themselves there as they sort of split up and headed around the globe like Gypsies starting around the fourth century. While they wanted their own nation, nobody was going to help them and, sides, there wasn't much pressure to fight for it as they were living their lives wherever.

That changed around the eighth century with the comming of the Caliphates, Crusades and Catholic persecution. They b egan to trickle back to their homeland or, what they deemed as the closest thing to it. By this time, as I mentioned, the Caliphates were in power over all the Middle East and, parts of Aferica and Europe so, they had little chance of realizing their own. With the Zionist philosophy placed to the forefront in tangeable political form rather than simple theory by Theodor Herzl in the nineteenth century, Jews began to gravitate towards one common goal and, movements of tens of thousands of them began to move to Palestine.

Of course, the land was occupied by people of that area who had lived there for thousands of years just as they had at one time. As those people (Arabs and Palestinians)watched, the Jewish population grew and grew. After helping the British in WWI the UK favored a homeland for the Jews and, the League of Nations (predecessor to the UN)agreed and made it so.

The timing couldn't have been worse. Hitler, the Holacaust, the mass exodus to supposed safety for the world's Jews all made gentle assimilation impossible and, the British, seeing how this enraged the Arabs clamped down on immigration, virtually shutting it down. In turn, the Jews turned on the British and comitted acts of insurgency (terrorism to me is deliberate acts against civilians to gain a political edge rather than attacks on military) and eventually succeeded in getting the British to wipe their hands of the whole mess.

Eventually, the UN declared that the Jews shall have roughly half of the territory as their own and the Arabs (Palestinians) shall have the other half, despite that fact that they outnumbered the Jews by a margin of 30%.) The Jews of course loved this however, the Arabs of the region including the Palestinians did not and so, in 1948 when the country of Israel came into being, it was attacked by Egypt, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and Jordan which sent the Palestinians running for the hills making them refugees. for decades, despite taking land which they won in battle and used as 'defensive buffer zones' against further aggression, none of those countries or the Palestinians acknowledged Israel's right to exist.

cont.......

The right for Israel to exist was a key point in negotiations as Nasser had always threatened to 'push them into the sea' so how can one negotiate with people who are intent on your destruction. And this point has carried through to this day in one form or another. Israel, with US help (particularily in the Yom Kippour War (AKA October War) has taken ground in all conflicts. The Golan, Sinai, West Bank all became part of the occupied territories and used to bolster defense. When Arabs cry they wish the land returned, Israel wants something in return - security. Sadat gave his word that Israel had a right to exist as security and the Sinai was returned ( I was there at El Tasa in the Sinai when the military leaders or Egypt and Israel met to coordinate)

The Arab League who would not endorse the division of Palestine have treated Palestinian refugees like scum, all except Israel and Jordan. In turn, the Palestinians have been forced to carve out a niche on the edge of Egypt and Israel as every time they attack Israel, the property from which the attacks come from is taken off the table so that it cannot be used for that purpose again. And, later, it is then used in a common sense way to be used for Israel rather than let it go to waste.

So with Arab countries unable to defeat Israel, and, unwilling to cave into a common theme of recognition, unwilling to help Palestinians by giving them land and a home they simply kept the pot stirring with money for weapons, some pushing and rah rah 'dirty Zionists' propaganda and here they are. Living against a brick wall and a bunch of useless so called 'friends.'

Israel has taken hits for so long that it requires 100% security for any deal. That 100% requires time for trust to be built and, to a bunch of people living in squalor, that just isn't fast enough so, young hotheads with nothing to do but run around and make heroes out of themselves volunteer in droves to kill the Jews and Zionists. The women get into it too as it is a virtual culture of hate and so, you can't blame them as all of us would feel that way if we were them. Hence, within the population the cycle is self propagating. They know the world press is on their side (as we all are) and so, portray themselves as poor innocent victims even though outside of rare rogue attacks they are first to instigate aggression and the pres laps up the Israelis reaction as 'wrong' 'overreacting' etc. I wonder how my country would react if a bombing per week was carried out against school children and women from an adjacent country. Would they do nothing? God I hope not, I hope they kill whomever did it so that it doesn't happen again and if they don't, why the hell am I paying taxes?

What you can blame though is the leaders of Palestine who know there is a way out. Who know that with recognition and control they can have all the land of the 1948 agreement along with all the money needed to set it up for a modern industrial society to thieve in. It will take time and that is what nobody is wiling to give.

Hoped this helped.
Thank you Drewski

two groups of people who have hated each other for so long, they don't even know why they hate each other anymore. They will always fight and America will always give Israel the weapons they need or the money to make or buy them.

In a nut shell it is because the Jews and Christians, do not follow the laws of the Koran so they want to kill them, but they don't have any military might as far as equiptment goes, so they launch missles that they receive from CHINA into Isreal to kill people, then go hide behind innocent Palastinians, so that when Isreal defends themselves they kill alot of innocent people, and that inrages the world, so Hamas will keep doing this until all nations are against Isreal.... well thats the nutshell of it..

Everyone.. be really careful what you say here about these or any wars!

Americans can be trashed at every turn,
Israel & Israelites can be trashed and bad mouthed at any and every opportunity...

But bad talk Hamas and you will get your post removed, Just as mine was.. even though it was over a week ago and dead, then she decided to come in and start a fight over it and have it pulled.

I cry for the children.

And all the innocent people caught in the destruction.

For these people to have to bear this cross day in and day out,

be denied the right to peaceful living, is such a horrible crime.

Far from it. If you go 'there' you are one side of the fence or the other and, never able to see an objective viewpoint. Ive been there a few times and can tell you that both sides are so far apart they may as well be from different galaxies.

Basically, in 1947 a whole load of people who hadnt been born in that country arrived there and began to systematically rout people from their homes in a land grab second to none.

They flattened historic villages and finally coralled the natives into the tiny area of the Gaza Strip where the genocide has escalated over the last 3 weeks seeing more than 1020 deaths of the natives and I think 15 of the oppressors.........

But does this sort of backwards thinking apply to the people who have freed themselves of the chokehold of the British Empire as well? Should Australia, Canada and the United States of America be given back to the British to sate the horror of those oppressive persons who conquered lands so long ago? And should in turn the lands of the Americas be returned to the natives who lived here long before? Trace it far enough back and they should all return to Asia from whence they came and return the land to Mother Nature. She after all was doing a far better job with it before any of us crawled out of our mud and thatch huts to invade in the first place.

The entirety of the issue is anti-religious. As the Jews have a religion that "threatens' so many people they are deemed the enemy and supported by any who abhor Christianity or Judaism as its root. The war is not supported by pro-Palestinians but rather by anti religionists. It is not about land or people but a furtherance of anti-Christianity.
Most of the persons who oppose this Jewish state are of a decidedly anti-Christian bent as can be seen by reading many of their posts herein. And likewise those who flock behind any banner in opposition to Israel come from positions that mirror this.
Israel has rights to much of that land as does Palestine. There is no solution until people get their heads out of their religious hatred and start thinking about people.
It sickens me that some few voices here continue to post in hatred where that is obviously the cause of this issue and not any part of a solution.

holding a whole countrys population accountable for the actions of a few is wrong...

Israeli is reknown for their "intelligence" organization, I have to think they could have handled this better. maybe its their current leaders who are to be held totally accountable.

the world courts feel the same about Americas actions.

That's what Martin Luther King Jr. was talking about when he said early in the spring of 1968:

"The Western arrogance of feeling that it has everything to teach others and nothing to learn from them is not just.
A true revolution of values will lay hands on the world order and say of war: 'This way of settling differences is not just.'"

I know you are itching to turn this into a religious debate barren but Im just not going there - the facts of this one will speak for themselves........

and yes, empire building, of which this is simply another example is wrong - simple as......

The whole 'ethos of superiority' is cruelly misleading the whole of mankind - we are all entrusted with the earth and each other to nurture, not to annhililate.........

hatred and racism?
It is easy to say things and do not prove them at all. Especialy when the written material is there. The whole thing just work in the minds of those that do not have good counter-arguments that can defend the ZIONIST STATE.
The racism-counter-argument then has been used quite a lot here. I would like to know in what degree that is because certain people pullinng it out come from countries with strong racist traditions.

You could have saved the bits of this website and send him to the official website of the Israeli MFA They have a historical section and better accounts of "what really happened in Palestina".
I especailly liked your relativization of the conditions of all inhabitants of Palestina before the Zionist blow in 1948.
And also your definition of terrorim and the Zionist "insurgence"... do you know they killed a high UN officer (amongst others) that did not belong to the any army???

Oh god!
