I would prefer to have a private proposal. It is a special moment between two people who are deciding to spend the rest of their lives together.

The wedding is the place to celebrate with family and friends.

There is nothing wrong with proposing in front of family and friends but it always puts a girl on the spot, even when she wants to get married. It also stops her from throwing her arms around you, kissing you, and getting it on!
