I met my last boyfriend on the net and we stayed together for 3 years! We only split because we had grown apart, but that can happen in any relationship - online or no..

I was very happy with him for most of those three years. We moved in together 6 weeks after meeting up (we did live close to each other anyway), and everything was great.

I would say just trust your gut instincts. There is no real research you can do in my opinion.

The only thing that I can suggest is to see what happens. To me meeting someone on a site is an introduction, and you really get to know them in real life. It's no different than meeting someone in the real world to see if it works out or not. Its up to both of you to develop into something or not. Good luck.

They must not be on here right now, but there are a few couples here that have had their relationships from meeting on here lead to marriages. They stay here for their friends and the forums, and give us all hope as well as the benefit of their company.

It's true about the online site being a "meeting place" more or less. I can say for myself I have met a wonderful man in Ireland and have been to visit him and had him come this way. One thing that I can suggest that helped me a lot was having a webcam. We would chat daily for at least a little while. It helped for us to get to know each other very well. I saw/talked to him more often than I have if I met a guy in my town. Give it a try until May if you aren't already.

I don't like your post at all. To be completely honest, it angered me a bit. He didn't "pray" on me. He viewed me on another site and I was just sending a quick thank you. I'm just that kind of person. We began talking from there and he has the same values and beliefs as I do. We connect on many different levels. I don't have doubts at all. Distance can be a problem but it can work, provided condtions are right. As long as they are 'normal' people things work pretty much as they do had you met someone offline.

Of course the boobie factor plays a bigger role in LDR's or maybe thats just me
