I never thought I would post one of these threads....I haven't been watching the news while I've been off from work.

The principal from one of our schools just called me to find out if I knew the student who recently got burned. Apparently he was lighting a bonfire (not sure where) and was using some type of accelerant that blew back at him. 85% of his body is burned and he's down at Shriners Hospital, his chances of making it are very slim. crying

Yes, I know the student. He's in foster care. He's only been with us since August. He's one of our Community Day School kids and was doing better behavior wise out in the smaller group.

Please, whatever you do, be it prayer...good thoughts...good vibes....whatever, please send them his way for whatever is meant to be. If not recovery, then at least to be allowed to go peacefully without pain. The kids from his class are also going to need some emotional support (so's the teacher).

I just talked with the school counselor to make sure she knew what was going on. The boys teacher had already called her as did the principal that called me. Our principal happens to be out of town & I don't think he even knows what happened.. I have a feeling he's got a couple of messages on his machine at home.

Hi Denise..if this is some consolation for you all..the wee man with a little pain at the moment due to the severity of the bur It will be in the surgery afterwards for the skin grafts that will affect him the most and how he is received by others later in life. A younger cousin of mine went through this a few years ago, he burnt every part of his body for the exception of his face. And at that time the docts didnt think he would surrive it...today he is preparing to get married in the summer

He will be in my prayers

That's great to hear. I know they've made huge medical strides for burn victims. I was just reading comments that were posted with the news article & most were upbeat, just one person who felt they needed to lay blame with someone. It takes all kinds.
