jbibiza: While CS may have it figured out... members don´t seem to adhere to that concept very well. I have had so many instances of posting and being completely invisible because the thread had been hijacked and turned into a chat... and I just think... why did I bother...

Been there too, ladies. Nice to see I'm not alone. I don't spend much time in the chat threads, but I do love to chat in the topic threads...about the topic, and other offshoots of it. Not drivel. I don't mind the occasional joke, but sometimes it does get out of hand. wine

Sorry was being a smart A** as usual have not had much to say lately but this thread brought out the fun in me. It is all about fun really and trying to understand where others are coming from. There are some people who are wonderfully careful with their words and never come across wrong and then there are those of us who constantly answer and put our foot in our mouths. No one has it all figured out just yet and like Alanis said in one of her songs I am looking for kindreds someone who will get this drift. For me it has come to the point that connecting with others on a more serious or philosophical level comes through poetry and blogs so in the forums I try to just connect with men and women as I am not on here looking for romance.

The most seemingly real people on here most of the time are the older folks not trying to judge either but that is what I have noticed. Some of the others put up a pic and proceed to play games and I tend to stay away from that I don't like it when people manipulate others even online just for their jollies.

Well am off to Bday part and to eat lots of sinful Italian desserts. Have a lovely evening people and I mean that sincerely.

TurkishDelight: How do you keep your sanity in here..you are all very nice

How is that possible, do you not get bored with the threads that go on and on with hug and kiss and all that shi*e.

Do you not have moments where you want to put your hand through the screen and drag that person out and slap a bit of sense into them?

Or is it just me who has days where I want to trottle someone when I read such drivel on some of the threads

Well there is about 99% of the people in here are frauds so I have to go with what my Grandfather taught me, "Believe none of what you hear and only half of what you see".

I'll start here, Turkish.

Now, i don't care much about emoticons, though, i do understand how annoying those little hugs can get. laugh

I have a problem with boring people, who come here to tell us how to behave or talk. These same people, have a problem with young people posting on the site and acting their age, or when they mention things like sex. They don't stop there, no! Next, they'll try to *scare* you into leaving the site, by being meddlesome, gossipy and just pathetic. The ranting doesn't end, no. They continually crow about how focused they are, and how admirable their personalities are, but God forbid anyone talk about their own qualities( physical).

These people need to remember that, this site is meant for people over 18 years of age, not 40, not and 50. If they want some peace and quite, they could either:

1) Join an old people's home
2) Retire to bed, or
3) Go knit

If an 18 year old wants to spread some emoticons around, then let them do so. This isn't a cause for alarm, as emoticons are not detrimental to anyone's health.

There have been numerous *complaints* about the youth here, and i am speaking on their behalf. See, we have some really messed up *mature* adults on the site.

I basically think it's a waste of time, this...but then again, life can be a waste of time a lot of the time, don't u tink??...I mean, it happens while we're planning greater things, doesn't it?....so while we're wasting our time lost in the minutae of daily life, we may as well keep ourselves amused, or at least sucker ourselves into believing that we're doing something constructive by all this inccesant clicking around..
...if you want something more rivetting, go watch palestinian children burn on Al Jazeera, as one example..

Seems to a lot, yes. Not always, though. And thank you for your kind words, Turkish. There are many on here that I enjoy reading the posts of, as well. Some make me think, some share similar views, others are totally the opposite of me...and it all makes it fun to discuss a topic. The drivel doesn't.

Good thread, and I didn't read all of the pages to see if it stayed on topic...but I sure hope it did. laugh hug

Lagoona..the dificulty I have been having these days, is trying to look away from the types children that you speak of. I come on here to have some light entertainment, I have no desire to read all about someone else's doom and gloom..I can go to work for that. I simply dont need to read it on here in every single thread I come across, for no matter where I turn its enough to want me to skoop my brains out wiuth a spoon just to get some light relief

Thanks Luscious, good to have a young point of. However, you are in the minority in so far as age goes, or at least amongst the forum posters, and it is embarrassing to see (speaking for myself) the flirting going on between young uns like you and grandaddies. Maybe because I have kids older (I think) than you and the thought of any of these guys saying what they do here to them gives me the creeps (though I´m sure it´s happened to them in RL and they are more than capable of dealing with it).

The discussion however is not really about this, but the hijacking of good thread by people who have nothing to contribute other than "hi, yes I´m fine, how´s you, did you get enough last night blah blah".

Sometimes yes, and sometimes no....it's a reflection of conversation in the real world....the larger percentage is just idle chatter...but we, homo sapien, seem to need it...we are gregarious by nature...but personally I believe that the internet is the great Pied Piper of our age, and we are all following it's tune down the path of individual escapism and isolation...

...now don't knock me for being maudlin and philisophical....you asked me for something other than sex and croissants..

No matter the age, judgements will always be made.
At times I have been stunned by what some have written, stories of horrendous pasts, feelings being declared openly and in good faith, even the sexual threads can be shocking yet funny...its the same thing that happens time and time again by a few.
Folks jumping on others back to defend a perceived slight on another, making judgments on how another lives..as in life it just doesnt seem fair to me
