DazzleYou: Yes, normal birth is preferred and recovery is much faster than cesarean.
Cesarean is preferred for fetuses detected that are disproportionately large to the birth canal which is often the case with women who have undiagnosed, untreated gestational diabetes.
Also, if a woman has had a cesarean before, they will have to have subsequent cesarean births after to avoid rupture of the uterine wall during birth.
Fetal health may require a cesarean as well. For example, if during child birth a fetuses heart rate drops to a certain level during contractions, it is a likely trip to the OR for emergency Cesarean. It often is an indication that the umbilical cord is wrapped around the baby's neck, or some other anomaly that presents itself during contractions.
But whereas a woman can recover and feel relatively well after just a few days with natural child birth, a cesarean can take weeks to a month or more with complications to recover.
Again thank you for your complete clarification.
