When I saw the movie I had no idea that there was such a real place which actually people say there is a mothman. I saw it on unsolved mysteries.

Did anyone else know there were people who actually say they saw the mothman.uh oh

Well i have to say "The Mothman Prophercies" by John Keel is one of my favorite books, and when the book was announced to be made into a film i was really looking forward to it.

Sadly the film is a complete disaster compared to the original book, which is really brilliant.

I was wondering how they would get around to the subject of the creature being seen to land in peoples land, and be seen to grab their pet dog and then fly off it.

Needless to say they made the film so wishy washy people who saw it wouldn't even realise that it was not just a paranormal/ghastly love story coupled with foretelling of doom, there is far more to it!

The weird events connected to the Mothman began on November 12, 1966 near Clendenin, West Virginia. Five men were in the local cemetery that day, preparing a grave for a burial, when something that looked like a “brown human being” lifted off from some nearby trees and flew over their heads. The men were baffled. It did not appear to be a bird, but more like a man with wings. A few days later, more sightings would take place, electrifying the entire region.

Fargo was a good movie though, bleak humour, great acting and good cinematography.

They completely destroyed the story and misrepresented the creature known in the mothman film.

the creature was reported to be roughly man-shaped, either grey or brown, and between five and seven feet tall. Its body was wider than a man's. It did not appear to have a head, but rather its "eyes" were set on the upper chest. These "eyes" were very large, and alternately described as glowing red lights, or a reflected red like a bicycle reflector. (Glowing red eyes are the surest sign of a paranormal entity.) When it walked it shuffled on what appeared to be human-like legs, but no feet were ever observed. Rather than arms it had bat-like wings which it did not flap. It was always seen to glide. The non-flapping of the wings, even in ascent, is particularly disturbing. Indeed, it was reported to regularly ascend straight up like a helicopter - and again be it noted, without any wing-action. (In regards to the wings, John Keel determined that a man the size and heft of the Mothman would require 24 foot wings to be able to glide.) It was fast in flight, able to pace cars going over 100 miles an hour. In flight it emitted a humming sound and often emitted a "mouse-like squeaking." Occasionally it was heard to also emit a screeching sound something like a woman screaming.

Ah, well a rumoured site for this type of experiment is near/under lake Cartagena in Puerto Rico.

The Government sequestrated the land surrounding it after shall we say unusual creatures were seen by locals in, around and coming out of the lake and the surrounding area.

I won't name the company that is based there, but shall we say they have a history that would make them prime contractors for this type of work.

They should have been drug testedelephant

I've never seen anything 'spooky' or supernatural. I've been to houses which were supposedly possessed and I've never experienced anything weird.
I have heard normal men of steel nerves explain with fear and detail of things they've seen. Maybe they really saw something or maybe....

they were just highelephant

I never heard of the Mothman book or movie.

But I know when we were living at the foot of the mountains
near Saratoge, Wy. we were told BigFoot had been spotted
at the edge of the river and in the mountains. I personally
never saw a thing, but did do a lot of back packing just
to see the sites around where we were living.

I live near Pittsburgh and know people who claim to have seen Mothman. Do I believe them? I don't know anymore. I've seen a Bigfoot, and I didn't believe in them until I saw one with my own eyes. So...seeing makes a believer of one, and seeing something like this makes you believe other things can exist or be true that you never would have imagined.

I walk in a world where the strange is normal, my friends. dunno laugh

This is the latest report on the mothman.

Please note, the “Mothman” (or large bird, Thunderbird) was reported to have been seen on June 27th, over a month before the August 1, 2007, collapse of the I-35W Bridge. That this is only being reported now, after all the talk of Mothman and the Silver Bridge collapse, must be held as suspect. So the question must be asked: Are there newspaper records of big bird sightings from SE Minnesota for the months before the bridge collapse, or is this myth-making occurring now?
