gozoman2: If the US drops it's wars, dismantles most of the CIA and starts spending the money on it's own people instead may be a solution......

A better idea.......... STOP sending all our jobs overseas..yay
Sure we can. Just keep printing more money. See all those other nations who keep buying our bonds and loaning us money have no real other choice. We are the only real investment that will pay off.

Remember we are America. Land of milk and honey. Baseball and apple pie. Don't loose hope. Putting money in Americans hands did help us some what. It wasn't much but it allowed the car manufactories to stay afloat a little longer and the banks didn't complain about the increased deposits. It was all just buying time. Smoke and mirrors.

You elect a Texas oil man to be president and gas spikes at almost $4.50 a gallon. Surprise...surprise...no one does anything about it really...like the president has no power to halt the cost of gas. Past presidents inacted their powers to halt a spike like that to give the economy time to reset. Our man Bush did nothing. Didn't even offer to open the military stash of oil...which wouldn't have solved the problem but come on...offer us something to show leadership. Now it's water under the bridge. Everyone has moved on so guess what...Exxon Mobile who had record breaking years the past few years is now looking at less income then before Bush came to office. See what goes around comes around.

Our real problem isn't the state of our economy. It's our lack of enforcement of basic rules and governness of our economic system. It's so vast and unregulated no one agency can get a grip on it. Even the White House doesn't know what's going on really. Our health care system and future social security melt down are our next big issues. Those events can cause large number of people to react negatively and nothing like the little people loosing everything to change a nation. There has never been a government to survive after the people loose every reason to believe things will get better.

Ask the Soviets. When they crumbled their military did nothing. Why not?

Cause it was the military members families who were revolting.

We'll be fine...money in American's hands means we keep going a little longer. Hopefully we come together as a nation and start to rebuild after these disasterous last 8 years of a government asleep at the wheel.

It took an act like 911 to wake us up to our weaknesses.
It took a president who couldn't stay focused on the real enemy to show us how close to the edge we can go to protect ideals.

It will take someone as special as Obama to remind the world that we are not their enemy. We are the greatest nation ever and the world's best hope for peace and prosperity.

If you don't believe it...look at our fight against AIDs in African nations. The amount of money we've poured into that endevour could have been better spent finding a real cure. Then nobody would suffer from AIDs. Why don't we?

AIDs is a immune deficency disorder. Remember what the word immunization means? Protect the immune system. If you defeat AIDs you can defeat a whole lot more. Remember what drugs do. There is not one single drug which can cure anything. Drugs just treat the symptoms by supressing them. Immunizations cure people. But remember there is no money in the cure. So Obama has to defeat the culture of greed and that's just not his priority.

So don't be disappointed when even he can't cure all that ills us.

Nonetheless...America is still the land of the free and beautiful. If you don't believe it....you need to travel around this world. I've been to over 30 nations and I can assure you.

America is the beautiful...the land worth dying for boys and girls.

sending our jobs overseas is what made our 401 plans blossom so much. Companies saving money meant more money in our retirement plans. So here is a delima for you.

Are you wiling to give say a third of your retirement money to bring those jobs back?

Well we already lost more than that with this current housing crisis. So let's focus on the real issues and leave the companies alone to do what's best for them.

Unless you wanna write me a check.

Exactly!

But it's funny how the right wing in this country can find billions for an immoral war...but balk at spending billions to save us!!

Sparky55: There's rumor afoot that Obama and the mattel toy company were attempting to develop something called the welfare doll. The idea being that one could wind it up and it wouldn't work.

Some of the stimulus ideas seem to equate to the same thing. We are screwing future generations with the debt we are creating and have been creating in the past. Social welfare on this scale will lead to our banruptcy.

I'm poor but I totally agree, don't get any free stuff though, I tried to get help for my dad here, after he had brain surgery and the black lady I spoke with said they don't have the funding to help everyone, she said that the only people she beleived they were helping at the time was minorities and single mothers....

Not all poor people don't work, you have to figure unless you work for yourself, or the city, state, or feds... and some sales people.. then the people make less then 12.00 hr here anyways.. I'm a certified welder, the best paying jobs within 30miles only pays between 8-12hr..... This town is all about who you know, not what you know....I have a 137 IQ. the last time I went putting in apps.which was about 2yrs. ago, I put in 67 apps. accompanied with resumes over a 4 month period of time, I was never even called for on interveiw..Every job I applied for was hiring when I appied...

SexyAttorney: Obama, President elect of the United States, has already proposed $500.00 stipends to every tax paying citizen in 2010. Bush's "gift" did NOT stimulate our economy, so how is this going to?
When will this national, and world, economic crisis end? When the US goes bankrupt???
"We" can't keep bailing sinking ships..........

$500? Such welfare giveaways are pointless and stupid.

Now %2500000 per person - now that stand a real chance of solving everyone's problems. blushing

Oh that's so simply. Who was the most dangerous enemy to the US the last eight years?

Our Masters of the Universe...those talented well educated CEO and CFO's of the investment companies, Freddie and Fanny, and our banks who used greed to do more harm to us than even 911. Don't forget they are all still Millionares and doing okie dokie. They did manage to accomplished in just under 10 years what no terrorist group has been able to accomplish in 30 years. Course the lack of oversight by congress could be seen as part of the equation but that's another thread.

You could say they all unconsciously brought about change to America though. They made it possible for Obama to be elected President.

Funny old world isn't it?

dunno

The sad part is, since I retired my income has dropped significantly and I now qualify for some of these incentives. I don't need it at all nor do I want it. My retirement check covers everything I need. Besides, I just secured a second career job and I saved a lot of money over the past 28 years.

There just seems to be too much giving and to the wrong people. There really are people who need a help up, assistance with medical issues and others. What drives me nuts is the continued pouring out of money to those too lazy to get off their asses and try to earn their own way.

Anyway, I think you and I see this pretty much the same way.
