i would listen but make my own decision

There was a time when my answer would've been "no"...but I've learned some lessons from past mistakes. I would listen, and decide if I felt they had valid reasons. And look more carefully at the person. If it were my sons, I would definitely listen. It affects them a bit. And nobody meets them until I get to know them better.

As long as my daughter had given them a fair chance and had good reason not to like them, yes I would stop seeing them. We're a package deal, and as such, she should like the people in my life.

However, if my children were grown or it were family that didn't live with me, and they had no good reason for their feelings, screw 'em - it's my life.

Me too, no one meets Em until I know them first and say they can.

Kids surprisingly have great intuition. I have my kids look at photos first of the guy and then read their profile. If they say no - mom says no.

1. They want me to be happy and to be with someone they know I would find attractive.
2. They're looking to be happy and want the right step dad.

I'm not sure about family members, it would depend on how close and around they are to you. I would of course listen to their input. Maybe they can see something you're missing. As they say, "Love is blind." So another set of eyes and ears can always help.

The reason I am asking is because that is what happened
when I met Nick. Of course I moved in before anybody
had much of a chance to meet him. Found out if I had
listened and taken more time I never would have taken
that step. Lesson learned for me for sure.

I think it would be why they didn't like them.

Then again even if i am friendly with someone when they don't get answers they want they get abusive!

Today was my final straw, i will be buggered when i come on here for a laugh to be lectured about my life, insulted, patronised and then told to go over to Iraq to get yourself blown up!

So please, if anyone else thinks i am a depressed miserable git , please save yourself the time and email some other member!

Oh, and i don't feel i have to tell complete strangers my whole life story, who i am seeing, what i do or be dragged into a slanging match.

Oh and for the record my birthday on the site is not my real date of birth, just in case any lunatic fixates on it It's close, but then if i wanted to launch an appeal begging for attention i would just do that in a more creative way
