I was at work today making a spreadsheet from data starting a few years ago, and came across the name of a friend of mine from many years back. I know it's him because he has one of those unique last names that you just don't see every day. I haven't thought about him in at least 20 years.

Suddenly, the memories came pouring back. We were just friends, and there were a group of us that hung out together then, but he and I used to dance together a lot, including slow dancing. I remember he used to wear Polo by Ralph Lauren, and to this day he's the best-smelling man I've ever known. I loved dancing with my face against his neck and shoulder. (Yes, that's as far as things ever went with us. We really were just friends.)

A party at his house was my first-ever pig roast...and the first, and last, time I tried to drink a "beer bomb". cheers laugh We had a lot of great times back then. He's the only one of the group that I haven't seen in the past 20 years or more.

Anyway...has this ever happened to you? Have you had a friend that you haven't seen or thought about in a very long time, and then suddenly something brings them to mind and brings back a ton of memories regarding them?

Please share. wine Let's wax nostalgic.

Funny...I could smell it the rest of my day at work as the memories rolled over me. Felt good in his arms, too. I'm still trying to remember why we never dated each other. dunno confused Obviously, we liked each other's company, and liked holding each other, yet we never even kissed.

Ah well...things happen or not for a reason. wine

Awesome one, Jampet. wine

I thought I was going to have a double zinger of a day. I saw a pic in the "Who's Viewed Me" that looked just like the guy of the latrine shower incident...and emailed him. Then I looked at his profile and the rest of his pics. Nope, wrong guy. But that close-up...what a kick in the gut to see that pic. Eyes, nose, cheeks, lips...in that particular shot he looked just like the other man...and like he hadn't changed in 20 years. (Should've been my first clue, I guess. doh )

laugh sigh

I love to have things like this happen to me! I joined Facebook about a year ago and didn't really participate. Recently a co-worker told me she had "found me" on there and wondered why I hadn't responded to her "friend's request". So about 2 weeks later (end of November) I went on. Since that time I have been found by high school friends whom I haven't seen in 35 years! That has been fun to "wax nostalgic" over those days and to play catch up with old friends.

I haven't gone on that place yet. I have an account on a similar site, and basically only go there about once a month or less. Usually only if I get an email.

I should go looking for old friends. It would be nice to catch up. There are some people that touched my life that I would love to find again.

I recently signed up for Facebook too. I ran across an old high school crush. I did a friend request & he replied with, "Umm.. who is this?" I told him we knew each other from high school band & that he'd lent me his Allen Parsons Project album. He then said, "Oh yeah! Now I remember!" and proceeded to tell me what was going on with him & asked about me. He's on his second marriage & lives in Poland. It was nice to hear from him again.

Funny you should say that, Dru, just had an email from a friend from 21 years ago, wow, the memories, she found me on Friends reunited.

Oh the memories of my young and reckless youth...

Do this all the time. lol. I'll miss them and wonder how they're doing... then I'll forget when I actually have a way to contact them. Lather, rinse, repeat

Awesome experience, Owen. I have a friend who just contacted an old friend of hers by phone after 24 years. She lucked out...he still works at the same place he did then, and she had found his old business card. She called to wish him a happy birthday. laugh
