If you want it very tender, cook slowly.

First, sear off the top and bottom of the roast in a frying pan...only takes a couple of minutes each side...until brown.

Then wrap up sirloin in aluminum foil tightly with a package of lipton onion soup mix and about a quarter cup of water. If no onion soup mix, just add some celery, carrots and onions chopped up in the water.

Bake in over for 3-4 hours at 315 degrees. Depends on the size of the roast for baking time. A roast about 3lbs, bake for 3 hours...abouve 3 lbs, bake for 4 hourswave

My pleasure..let me know how it turns out. Oven temps vary with humidity and altitude. But I think you will be ok at 315 degrees. Just let the sucker cook and cook and it should be pretty tender.

Save the juices (strained) from the roast and put in saucepan. Whisk in about 2 tablespoons of flour on medium high heat...make sure all the lumps of flour are gone. Turn down to medium to reduce sauce. Keep whisking until you get a gravy consistency. Put in about a tablespoon of butter near the end and stir into the sauce, and you have a nice sauce for your roast.

Do not slice meat right after cooking. Place roast on a carving board and let rest for 15 minutes before slicing. If you slice it when it is hot, the juices will escape.

Hi Dawn and Dru...wave

Others may do it differently. The best roast to me is an eye of round roast..hardly any fat and if you cook it long and slow, the meat is very tender. I prefer no fat in meat but others like it.

And others may cook it differently with different ingredients.

Cook that sucker longer next time...it is hard to overcook a roast in a 315 degree oven. Also, try it with an eye of round roast next time.

Glad you were spared the firing squad...bouquet

It is usually blue and comes in rolls like masking tape. Any Lowes, Walmart or Home Depot has it. Just tape areas where you do not want paint to get to....like ceiling and wall meeting place, windows, etc, It is safe to tape anywhere because it is not very sticky...peel off tape after paint is dry.
