It's hard to say, until you're in a situation, you really never know what you'd do. But this is what I hope I would do..... I wouldn't be standing on a street corner with a sign. (Unfortunately, many people ignore those in dire straits). I'd go to a gas station, clean up a bit, go to a police station asking for the location of a homeless shelter, and as soon as possible start filling out applications at fast food joints, (eat for free and still get paid money to take care of bills, etc), department stores, taking a job to do anything and everything I could to get on my feet. It wouldn't be easy. I'd pray for strength to get me through this and to not give-up.

I know this was probably meant to be a humorous thread, but I know someone who was homeless at one point in her life with 3 kids. So I took the serious route....

Steveno, When my sons were 8&5 yrs old my husband at no fault of his own lost acouple jobs because those business owners didn't pay their taxes we became homeless and lost a good share of our belongings. We had to reside in a homeless shelter.

Didn't mean to spoil your thread.

Been there, done that.... Thank God for friends that don't run out on you when you are in dire need. What a comeback but will never forget the challenges.

Now, on the more serious note, I have great respect for those of you who have been there and come through it to build a good life. It's not easy, but you prove it's possible.

I was there in my late teens traveling throughout the west mostly.I was blessed with so many good genorous caring people.Looked back later and thought "oh my gosh!!What things could happen o a young woman out on her own". And it does happen so I was very fortunate that all I met treated me well.
