I have a most special friend here who is currently suffering from severe bouts of asthma. She is a regular contributor to the daily missives that alleviate my own needs for compassion and wisdom, and in her current state is feeling unable to properly commit her resources to yet another of her eloquent masterpieces. As my little brain is starving and nearing asphyxia without some offering from her poetic soul I am begging those in the know to please offer some natural remedy to clear her symptoms so that she can first and foremost be freed of her tensions and secondly for my greedy mind to fall into another of her intoxicating musings so rife with the abundance of life and soul.
Please anyone?

Come on where is your compassion?

She is suffering needlessly and all because of the need for some simple information?

Googling things just isn't the same as hands on you know...

i am not really sure what you are asking?

Concise version here:

She is suffering from asthma and requires some remedy. Preferably from the realm of nature...

Certainly not an expert.....

but I should think that natural oils that are inhaled for congested nose and throat should work fine....

such as a few drops of peppermint oil or camphor oil or something like that in hot water and inhale under a cloth.....google it.....you should have better help then mine probably.....

thumbs up thumbs up

If it was somebody who is here I'd get a load of fresh mint leaves and some rosemary from the garden, mush them up, pour hot water on top and have here breath it in........

.....but wouldn't know how the hell to get that in Canada in the dead of winter sort of thing........

a bronchodiliator or steriods. asthma can be life threatening.

maybe she could try to see if she has allergies that cause asthma attacks.

Yeah all I can muster with my job is a pile of rocks and as silica is not very conducive to health I would rather forgo that lousy effort.

Great advice and I am sure she is reading this and taking notes. She is far more astute than I at the worst of times and she lives in Colorado but still the same damnable snow covered terrain...

Thank you.hug

She need to see her G.P.

No natural remedies for Asthma as stated above could be life threatening.

Oxygen.
Nebuliser.
Maybe steroids. See her doc.

You did say severe bouts right?

Of course with asthma the medical treatments are important and I am sure she has a doctor who has been dealing with this with her. I was merely seeking some natural way to alleviate the symptoms not to manufacture a miracle curative.

I appreciate the concern and I am sure she does as well.

Thank you very much for the input.

Yes her energy levels are depleted right now and she is suffering through heavy effects. I am sure that the desensitization from these occurrences tends to complicate the issue as the sufferer tends to just deal with it. But she is by no means a fool and knows when it is time to get to a professional.
In the mean time she is looking for some way to calm the effects when they are lessened or at least keep them from getting worse.

Datura (Jimson-Weed) was used in the past as a Relief-Agent for Asthma, however it is quite TOXIC and Dangerous.

Makes one wonder what you do as the day goes on...? Does it have anything to do with something you're consuming (too much coffee, for instance)?confused dunno laugh wave

Thank you Conrad... I just hope that the cure is not worse than the ailment even if it can be rather humourous...

There is a mnemonic device for the physiological effects of datura/atropine intoxication: "blind as a bat, mad as a hatter, red as a beet, hot as hell, dry as a bone, the bowel and bladder lose their tone, and the heart runs alone." Another rhyme describing its effects is, "Can't see, can't spit, can't pee, can't shit."

The James-Town Weed (which resembles the Thorny Apple of Peru, and I take to be the plant so call'd) is supposed to be one of the greatest coolers in the world. This being an early plant, was gather'd very young for a boil'd salad, by some of the soldiers sent thither to quell the rebellion of Bacon (1676); and some of them ate plentifully of it, the effect of which was a very pleasant comedy, for they turned natural fools upon it for several days: one would blow up a feather in the air; another would dart straws at it with much fury; and another, stark naked, was sitting up in a corner like a monkey, grinning and making mows at them; a fourth would fondly kiss and paw his companions, and sneer in their faces with a countenance more antic than any in a Dutch droll.

In this frantic condition they were confined, lest they should, in their folly, destroy themselves — though it was observed that all their actions were full of innocence and good nature. Indeed, they were not very cleanly; for they would have wallowed in their own excrements, if they had not been prevented. A thousand such simple tricks they played, and after eleven days returned themselves again, not remembering anything that had passed. – The History and Present State of Virginia, 1705

She is very wise so will likely refrain from this but it could be funny to follow her about for a week if she did.grin

My friend cafeine would only produce... SDFhdfh sdzfjklhdsfkh djgfkhdsgfkh dfghfgkhf and profuse sweats, shaking, mild convulsions and worse delerium than I share herein... Oh yeah and pupils large enough to seat a turkey for dinner...

I am just rambunctious both physically and mentally and it tends to progress with oxygen consumption and perhaps daylight...grin

Of course different if its lessened but had understood you were saying it was severe. Asthma can be exasserbated by the least little thing,I would be cautious of using alternative measures and would still get proffessional advice before using same.wine

Look, while she is still looking for immediate rememdies...
has she tried and with total belief
this:

Ask the Holy Spirt (Jesus) to completely take away her fear.

This can not hurt and...

Also, continue with any alternative and necessary steps such
as medical attention.

Okay, a serious suggestion: a natural antihistamine vitamin concoction such as found most places that sell supplements (a health-vitamin store, not sure what's available in Austria). A good ingredient to look for is Quercetin.hug
