I haven't read any posts here that are actually responsive to the question. The question isn't "what characteristics must a person have for me to be willing to commit to them," but rather what process - mental or otherwise - causes a man to make that commitment.

To show why the questions are different, consider that one may be compatible with someone to the nth degree and still be unwilling to commit to that person.

Of course, perhaps TG meant to ask what we want to find in our mate, but that is a distinct question from what "how and when do you decide to make a commitment."
