HJFinAZ: And I have no reason to cause a diversion...

doh Some people just don't get that you were asking if the facts were correct. doh Frankly I could care less about their laws since I do not live there. I do however care about ours! The day guns are outlawed then I will become a criminal because I refuse to hand them over period! We have in our constitutional rights to be able to bear arms! And by God I will defend that right with my life!thumbs up

I agree, I would also.

"To me", I simply choose to take the easy way out and ask the question on here. SOme appear to be very touchy on the subject, makes me wonder what has happened in their lives to create so much fear..sigh

HJFinAZ: From: Ed Chenel, A police officer in Australia

Hi Yanks, I thought you all would like to see the real figures from Down Under.

It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by
a new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by
our own government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than
$500 million dollars.

The first year results are now in:

Australia-wide, homicides are up 6.2 percent,

Australia-wide, assaults are up 9.6 percent;

Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!

In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent.

(Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the
criminals did not and criminals still possess their guns!)

While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in
armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in
the past 12 months, since the criminals now are guaranteed that their
prey is unarmed.

There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of
the elderly, while the resident is at home.
Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has
decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in
'successfully ridding Australian society of guns.' You won't see this
on the American evening news or hear your governor or members of the
State Assembly disseminating this information.

The Australian experience speaks for itself. Guns in the hands of
honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws
affect only the law-abiding citizens.

Take note Americans, before it's too late!

Too fucking late for what! - It is unlawful in Oz to carry a gun ( Its a step in evolving an agressive mentality) you carry a gun you must be a criminal.
What you saying is that we should cling to the mechanics of aggression and death - and mate by the way mines bigger than yours

Yes that is the saddest part. blues Asking a question is not the easy way out. It is simply the best form of communication there is! I was taught there are no stupid questions. Ask and you will receive the answer. professor Too bad others weren't taught that as well. scold I was interested in your question as well and I was hoping someone would have had the proper response, and then the responses got hateful and nasty. I just couldn't resist my first post. grin

BTW, I carry a gun at times for two reasons.
1. A cop is to heavy to carry.
2. It makes the punk "gang bangers" think twice before pulling their crap.

thats fine if your country has the right to bare arms, and if thats what you wanna do good on you, just dont push it on us with misqouted 'facts'..........as i said before he asked the question then stated so called facts, instead of saying well, can anyone help me out on this......it would've taken him less than 5 mins for him too have looked it up...............ignorance is as ignorance does..and as i've said before i AM a gun owner,

Then why end it with this statement-

"Take note Americans, before it's too late!"

Methinks it is a feeble call to arms of the likeminded and or possible conversion using unconcise cut and paste information without and idea given of where it came from

Honestly Cusp, I did not know what you were referring to with the "mine is bigger than yours"..

I have no argument with the laws of another country. If I ever get the chance to visit AU (and I would like to before I die), I would not be able to bring a gun anyway.

I have no reason to carry one around town, I do however pack when I am out in the desert or on a long bike ride.

No One was "pushing" anything on you. He was simply asking a question and I'm very sorry that you didn't understand that. It was extremely clear to me that he was asking if it was true from people in your country. However no one even bothered to answer the question; only accuse him of something he is completely innocent of. That my dear is wrong. No one should EVER be told they are wrong for asking a question. It is THE BEST FORM of COMMUNICATION there is! Have a wonder night and enjoy your guns in your country.

This article was emailed to me from a retired cop. I did not write it! I copied and pasted the article to ask the question I asked.

My question was and is, "IS IT TRUE"? I do NOT know..

---Isnt it sad that you have to live like that and do you not think that working on ways to not have to live like that is better than buying a bigger gun--- with the survellianceand preventative technology coming on stream its moving into a real possibility

In the desert, surveillance will do you little good against the "critters" one may come upon. When camping in the woods, the Bobcats, bears, etc. do not care what kind of surveillance on may have.

I would rather shoot a bear or a bobcat than have one attack myself or my dogs.

I thought I did..dunno

I was asking if the article I posted was true..
