When do you know it is okay to give out your e-mail address without coming across too suspicious. Some men post their e-mail addresses such as yahoo and msn....in their e-mail to you wanting to talk there instead. how do you handle this?

They are scammers...

Be very careful about posting too much info or giving out your e-mail address.

I don't like receiving an e-mail on fist contact. With me e-mails on the first contact, scream scammer. I only give my e-mail address when I feel comfortable and/or want too. And I will ask first if it is okay with the other person. Till I feel comfortable, I will only write through this site.

What ever you do, don't use their e-mail addresses, till you are ready. If suspect a scammer, I'd ignore them, and see if the mail disappears. If you answer the mail (through this site) ask questions.

Giving out an e-mail address isn't like a physical address or even a phone number roll eyes . It's not like you're going to be stalked or hurt by some words on a screen unless you LET yourself be hurt.
You can always delete an e-mail if you don't want to read it, I do it all the time... Big deal.

Good morning.......don't agree fully with what was said above regarding e-mails to be fair.....

I mean....I've done it a couple of times, and I certainly am not a scammer....

considering that my postal address is public on the telephone directory....

and my e mail is also on things like facebook....

what's the big deal about it?

Having said that however, yes one must be careful on who to correspond with....but other then that...enjoy.

Hi wave

I think some people are suspicous of someone giving out e-mail address too soon.

I for one have done it and don't see a big deal with it as I think its easier to chat in another format.

Not everybody who does it are acammers.

However from reading some of the Scam stories on here people should be careful.

Thanks for your posts! To be honest when I first began chatting using C.S. messenger, I found it slowed down my computer and it would occasionally stall..it was frustrating. I am sure it has to do with my internet connection or computer ...maybe not...I am not sure but nevertheless I would get frustrated and move to another messenger. However, reading on scammers and their ability to locate my whereabouts to the town scared me! I try to protect my identity as much as I can on here because I don't believe everyone has honest intentions. Speaking from my experiences on here so far!

I am more weary and cautious now. I do let those who provide me with their emails at first contact I would rather wait before moving to yahoo or msn.

I think it's a scam, we can all email and IM right here, no need to give out emails and IM id's. I think this is even more prevelent here because the sight is free so anyone can get on and represent themselves as just about anything. Be careful !

If I am not sure if someone is really who they say they are. I start asking questions they should know about their area, if they don't know or hesitate, it is usually a sign they are scammers.
