Don & I have four bantam hens and a rooster. One of the Japanese bantams is limping this a.m. She was fine last evening. Anybody have any experience/suggestions?

Thanks in advance! conversing

P.S. We LOVE our chickens, so anyone who suggests the "stew pot" gets it!! boxing

Seriously the rooster could have been at her...they can become aggressive.

Yes, but our rooster is not very aggressive and there are no obvious injuries. Any other ideas?

I have 11 Red Star Sexlinks (hens, no rooster) look at her feet and leg she may have a rat bite or it could also be a vitamin B deficiency.

Well, there was a very tiny, tiny skinned place on her leg, but we live in the country and have never seen a rat. Would a field mouse do the same?

Tell me more about the Vit. B deficiency (if you don't mind).

Thanks for the suggestion, regardless!

Winter's leg LOOKS fine except for a very, very tiny "skinned" place on that leg. Don't know what to look for regarding mites. (Is there a book you could recommend about general chicken care? We've been looking for the best book!)

Thanks for your advice! teddybear

LMAO let me put it this way, a field mouse would be a snack for a chicken esp a rooster.

I raised pigs for a while and one of my baby pigs couldn't support hinself with his hind legs, I took him to a vet who gave him a shot of B12 and before we left the little guy was running around the office. we had a hard time catching him.

Go there and post your question.
