Alaska is the largest state, but with less than 1000000 persons here.
We have the highest rate of vets of any state.
I did seven tours as a medic in the sandbox, and have been diagnosed with PTSD.
VA worthless, any one out there that can help???
I need to work, and be active...........In Soldotna. Any vets have a suggestion? I am at the end of my rope here.Real email=

I'm sorry that you are going through this. Saying "Thank you for your service" is meant well, and I do mean it, but it doesn't take the sting out of suffering with PTSD.

Here is something that might help you. Good luck John hug

not gonna to be able to tell you anything ya don't
already know... but i 'was' disabled according to
uncle sam's records, so in order to get rid the disability
records/tag/file/etc off my neck i went to court(hired a lawyer)
and at the same time got rid of a gold digger of a wife...

i also legally opted out of social security shortly after that.

i did this over 20 ye~ars ago but now own my own biz and very
comfortable/prosperous...it's not for everyone but should you
opt do this, just remember there is no turning back...
but it's how i did it... Have a Blessed Christmas 'Doc'

I wonder if useful services in your area are scarce, given the lean population up there. I saw a little of your neck of the woods when The Marines stationed me on navy base on Kodiak, Island in the early 70s. Pretty desolate and cold in most of Alaska, but beautiful.

Back in the Midwest you'll find a lot of vets connect and help each other find needed resources for PTSD. I've seen some cases where they had no other health issues but were given companion dogs that cost @ $20k to train.

Google wounded warrior project. They help with the invisible wounds too.

Best of luck.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is your inability to deal with life as you have witnessed.

Dealing with any trauma is difficult if you are not in full control of yourself.

Perhaps the solution is not removing the trauma but in your ideas of what the trauma means to you.

As it is in the past, perhaps the best thing you can do is to concentrate in living in the here and now.

Nothing anyone can do will ever change the past.

If you can find yourself, live in the moment and clarify your current thoughts to surround only that which is in the present post traumatic is something that you can deal with.

Determine what is delusion and what is fact and deal with only the facts as they pertain to you right now.

From one Vet to another, thanx for your dedication and commitment to our way of life.

Something I once wrote, may or may not have significance:

You signed an official contract that pledged your life to our country. You left your home and changed your life. You were/are prepared to do battle in the name of freedom. Following orders to the brink of death. You watched friends grow as you became stronger, resourceful and wiser. Sadly, some of us watched our friends die. You did your duty for your country and we appreciate your dedication. You are entitled to the benefits and reverence this nation owes you.

Happy Veterans Day to all my fellow warriors.
Remember the Fallen.?
