I think this is the only site I talk to myself on......although I see many familar faces from another site I am on..........no one in CT likes to post here

For a minute, I thought you were asking how many people connect on here. But you're asking how many people from Connecticut. I'm from Connecticut but I'm sure if you look around, there might be 50+. Occasionally, I look at the girls' profiles to see what others are saying.

I'm not on here much anymore because the two guys I met were actually looking for casual encounters and not a relationship-- but that's not what the f--ing said on their profiles!

So, I come on here when I get mail but otherwise, I don't know how to meet nice guys. They really do all want one thing or they don't work out. I'm sick of this.

True...........this Internet dating is not to be taken overly seriously................as for CT...........all I am finding on this site is young ones looking for something far different then I am.............

Trust me most of the women are only looking for sex on these damn sites. At least that's what I've been coming across.

I am not sure if you are joking or serious. Why? Because that is exactly what many of the women are saying on this site.

Perhaps you can give those of us looking for a relationship some guidance - my first venture into internet dating - as I have not found what Im looking for in many other social scenes. I think there is a time and a place for the physical but do guys who truly want somethign more even have a chance - guess I get to find out.

The best thing about meeting women on the Internet is the fact that you skip the physical and start really communicating from the very beginning. Photos really have very little to do with how they really look and you can focus more on the person from the inside out as apposed to being motivated my looks alone. It is true that chemistry is important but a womens psychological, intellectual, and emotional state is often overlooked when meeting then physically first.

The best advice I can give you, if your looking for a strong long term relationship, is to look for the best female friend you can find.
Focus on communication and getting to know them and how they feel about life, what they really believe in, children, career, the future, and true love. Once you find someone you feel strongly about, someone you can feel content just by having their presence, then you'll be on the right track.

Practice makes perfect and I have learned the hard way...don't settle for anything but your ideal match. Take the time to find her..and the reward will be heaven on earth..

I actually meet with a few guys from Internet dating, it has been interesting, to say the least.
My biggest complaint would be the fact that most of the men I meet lied about their age and/or height......... why lie if you're seriously looking for a relationship........just makes me think no one on these sites are really looking for much more then a %$#@ buddy, so I am back looking in the real world.

Don't feel bad, I am in the middle of a divorce with someone who lied about loving me for me and not US citizenship...also lied about accepting my first daughter...

I don't understand why people have to lie about anything! A lie is like a worm inside an apple...it rots the core and eats itself out and destroys relationships....

I just wish these people would just grow up and stop wasting the mature people's time and energy.

They even fake their maturity!!

Yeah that's another funny thing. Lying about your age, height and weight. I thought people would know that they would be found out when meeting someone. What I've experienced the most is getting a picture that is 10 years old. Then when you meet they are like 100lbs heavier than the picture. Come on now it's not like someone isn't going to be able to tell the difference. Don't get me wrong I like a girl with some meat on her. But if you start off by lying then it's not a good sign for the future.

My problem is that I seem to get a lot of married women messaging me. They start off portraying themselves as single. Then when it comes time to meet they are like "oh I wanted to tell you I'm married so this has to be discreet". My ex cheated on me throughout my whole 15 year marriage. The last thing I want is to be the guy on the other side of that for someone else.

Wow! Seems like both men and women are doing the same things on these sites. I guess you have to become like an online detective and becoming an expert on detecting online lies and deceit. I think this would be a good subject for a book.

My technique so far is keeping it at a pen pal level, as I can not date just yet. After a few emails they realize, if they are just after a quick fling, that it's not going to happen in the immediate future...and the emails stop. If there is no depth within the written word...I don't waist my time.I don't care how long it takes..I am prepared to wait...I also do not have much choice.

Also I am finding that about 40% of contacts are scammers that do not seem to get registered as having viewed my profile and they give out their email address on the first contact. They get my response template email which is full of just as much fluff.

Just an update. I finally met someone off this site and it's going very well. I admit I'm a bit amazed that this online dating thing eventually worked. Especially after all the crazies I had to sift through :)
