mddljoe: Satellite Beach....hmmmm
and folk dancing? double hmmmm
____________________________________________________________________

never heard of world famous satellite beach????

right next to world famous indian harbour beach... geeesh... everyone knows that...

as for dancing.. the city of gulfport has a three day dance at the end of the month (january)...great live bands and hundreds of dancers from around the country ... wooo hooo
its contra dance... the weekend it known as "snowball"
tampa and st. pete each have a monthly dance.. good folks and good fun...sorry its sold out ....."snowball"

always next year............

LOL...After all that hype! I was ready to say, "I'm in!" Then you pull the rug out at the end. Ya Big Palooka!

I've been to Indian Rocks Beach but never to Satellite Beach. I'm not much for driving around and getting lost so I tend to stick to Pier 60, Orlando and here in Tampa.

I drove to Ft Lauderdale once and while I was going through Alligator Alley...I was in a panic. It seemed as though I was making no headway.
Once there, I even considered selling my car and flying back!

Yeah, yeah...next year.
Next year I'll show up with my love connection from CS (Connecting Singles)
So, whoever he is, he'll need to get his dancing shoes shined, and his pants pressed cause I'm ready to cut a rug! dancing yay

What I did was, invite members to join the forum.
Sometimes people do not consider the fact that by joining a thread in a forum, they will be gaining more exposure; especially a thread such as this.

You see...I have Yenta tendencies.
(Yenta: Yiddish word which describes an older woman who is a matchmaker )

It's okay though, I have been in and out of deep sleep but when feeling better, I keep busy on and off in here and creating eCards.
You should check some of mine out!

It's turning out rather nicely in here. Don't ya think? Lots of beautiful members are showing up.

what they did not get the no-see-ems took when i finally made it to sanibel... back in the days when camping on the beach was cool and allowed.

tampa and orlando... i see you like the big cities..tampa, traffic is always a great place to get to know people...brings out the best.... alligator alley sounds nice.

small beach towns and open roads....ahhhh ... florida. forget freezing cold and something for everyone....

___________________________________________________________________

the alley ...

a highway in south florida that connects the east coast with
the west coast... and it runs across some of the best swamp land in the state... some private seminole land... the big cypress swamp...

first built as a two lane highway...
later widened to four...
and now know as i-75...

its lost most of its mystery and spooky story appeal...

and the fences keep the critters off the road..

but keep your eyes open and you could see just about anything...

have fun...........

Alligator Alley (also known as Everglades Parkway) is a section of Interstate 75 (State Road 93) and State Road 84 extending from Naples on the west coast of Florida to Weston on the east. It is 4 lanes of looking at Everglades for about 90 miles long. You can do 100 mph and feel as though you were only doing 50.
wow
It also seems as if you weren't moving forward at all because everything surrounding you looks the same, no stores, no gas stations, nothing but road and Everglades! It gets in's nickname because alligators often frequent the waterways beside the road. Bunches of them...From monster gators to babies!
shock
There are warning signs eveywhere before reaching Alligator Alley advising you where you can fill up before crossing the alley.
It has a couple rest stops where you can sit on picnic tables and watch the gator swin by but no vending machines or phones.

THAT'S what Alligator Alley is to me Autumn! wave

was it larry hagman or barbara eden that left the impression..?

nice description of the highway built in the 60's
the one critics joked would only be used by alligators...

Yes Wil,
NYC is quite an experience, even in only one day but why were you there for only a day?

The idea of having a Jeannie or a Jin always attracted me as a child. As a matter of fact, I still wouldn't mind finding a beautiful beaded bottle washed up on the sand containing someone who will grant me three wishes.

And don't ask what they would be Wil...
I'd need lots of time to mull that over.

Hello s-------angel wave

You are very welcomed and I am pleased you popped in! Thank you for accepting the invo. The more the merrier. I agree with that in certain occasions and this is one where it certainly applies.

I find that there are lots of NY transplants here in Florida.
We adjust rather nicely to the climate! cool
After living here for 11 years, I moved back to NY 2 years ago to assist my daughter with her wedding. I gotta tell ya, that winter was brutal! I went outside once for 10 minutes wearing my mesh Nike's and had to double back home, defrost my toes and put on the proper gear for the weather.

I tell you...I'd rather suffer through the heat in Florida during a power outtage than the NYC cold during one. Anytime!

I'm a Fla native and my confession is....I've never seen snow. Not in person before. I wouldn't know what to do or how to get out of it if I was up north. I hear about these poor people stuck in snow, can't drive or anything - I can't imagine!

But I do enjoy these milder temps we are having. I was just out in it and the brisk walk felt really nice! Refreshing! batting

For the record, Marley and Me is a good movie but has a very sad ending. I balled my eyes out! crying
I'm diving into the pool...make way everyone...

I see some of us are in the same area...I'm traveling for the inauguration right now. What we should be doing is considering a place for a Happy Hour group thing or something to get things going. cheers

I don't drink much but I'll use any excuse to have some fun so here's too beginnings! wine

You've never seen snow Wednesday? Awwww comfort
The first snowfall is quite lovely, especially during the evening but I gotta tell you, after a day in it you're done!

A sad ending for Marley and me? Uh Oh, I won't see it then. I have had to put down 2 of my little dogs and it hurt me so much that I can't even watch that SPCA commercial without feeling my heart flutter. sad Thanks for the warning.
