Maybe it's because in each of our lifes we have all been hurt in some way,shape or form,and online dating allows you to really get to know someone with out the physical ties that seems to make us or break us as a person.It allows some freedom to chose who we do and don't talk with for if we are truely interested we e-mail back,and if not then we chose to not respond.There is only one being we must all answer to and that is God almighty,and for each of us we must look into ourselfs to decide if when we choose to look into the mirror do we like the reflection that stares back at us or do we choose to change the image in which we see?We all must first like and love ourselves before we can expect others too see the beauty that lyes within us all.We are only ugly,dumb,or no good if that is how we choose to be for you are your own worsed enemy and no one can bring more harm to you then you can enflict upon yourself.So respect,trust and love yourself and others will see what you now see and truely love you for it.Just remember that there are always other who feel as you do,so feel free to share with them what you have learned and accomplished for it can only look up from there,and a new found friend is a blessing in itself.Kelly

Yes you got it right, quite hauntingly accurate if you really want to know the truth.

I'm not very sure I agree with everything you said, some of it can be truthful, but you know I came here because being a single mother, non drinker, 2 full time jobs, football games every Saturday for the next 8 weeks and God only knows what else that comes along, like parent teachers conferences etc, I just simply do not have the time to make plans to go out and meet people.

I may be totally wrong, but it's very easy for me to come online for 30 mins and read messages and talk to a few people and feel like I have made some sort of effort at dating again :)

I really do hope that someone strikes my fancy and makes me interested in them enough to take a day off work to go out. Until then it looks like this and 7 days a week work.

Hmmm...what if its not a matter of acceptance, and its just a matter of insecurity? Some people dont feel comfortable enough to just go out and meet new people. So with that said, they come on these sites as a kind of "coaching" material, to see how people are on the inside, without ever having to interact with the "real thing", via email or chat. When they feel comfortable enough with who they have met, then the part of an actual meeting comes into play. Its a sort of "crawl, walk, run" mentality. At least, thats what im getting out of it =)

I can relate to what you shared here. In some ways, talking to someone here is safer than seeing them in person. I have been divorced twice, and have had to learn the hard way that i have to love myself before I can have a good and lasting relationship.
I am doing better these days. I still would love to meet a nice guy that would respect and accept me in every way. Well, take care
