In general, I find Mainers to be very closed off. Many do not have the basic skills of communication. I have lived here for 25 years and have only a few friends. Last year on my to Sunday River I stoped at a local store in Waterford for a cup of coffee. When I walked in everyone in the joint was talking about the Patriots. I chimed in with my thoughts. Well, you would have thought I had Aids or something. Everyone clamed up, and only looked at each other. I yelled out, " O my god, did a stranger actually speak out loud? What are you going to do, have an interchange with them? Of course not, you lack the basic skills for such activity. No, you'll clam up, and act like the idiots your parents raised." That has been my experience with people from Maine. I'm glad there are people from away, that live in this State. Atleast there are some to talk to. Where are you Joanie? We are here girl!
