About the advancements in medicine subject, I would want to know exactly how long a wait there was before the surgeries were performed. Yes, I know, this is a joke, and I am being too serious, but you also have to realize that some of these other countries don't have quite the same malpractice problems, and research restrictions that we have here.
As for the importation of politicians, we do have an Austrian governor in California. Plus, I've taken notice of the increasing mobility of politicians for political reasons in recent decades. The Bushes come to mind, starting with W's grandfather's New England base, and the family moving to Texas following his (probably lucrative) investment work for Hitler in WWII, which nobody seems to want to mention. I'm sure the political connections with Harriman allowed Grandpa Bush to invest quite well in Texas oil, and the rest is history...
Then there has been the mobility of certain members of the Kennedy clan to establish political bases in strategic locations. The Rockefellers did the same. So has Hillary. Obama??? well...the guy's legally American, apparently, but his mobility from what little I read is extremely interesting. His family must have been extremely wealthy or had wealthy connections to manipulate his progress from Honolulu to Indonesia, through a broken marriage and 2 Islamic fathers, an at least partially Islamic upbringing, back to Honolulu and then on to Ivy League colleges. I consider myself fairly well familiar with current events, and even though I do not follow every election, I have not heard of this guy beyond 2 years ago. Strangely enough, he might be the best choice, since, apparently a vast majority of his party's members are voting that way. My issue is primarily with mobility and background, and I would prefer better choices to vote for.
