Just looking to make new friends for now since it's always all over the state anyways . The joy of driving a truck over the road, well if anyone's interested just leave me a msg or send me an email , I get on when I can while I 'm out usually on just the wifi that the truckstops offer.

Yea I do get time off , when I choose to take it , but since the divorce, I just put most of my stuff in storage, and just stay out , since I just let her keep everything else instead of fighting over this that and the other. Besides it's a lot cheaper staying in a hotel maybe 2-4 nights a month rather than paying rent onan appartment and utilities.
As for the boring part ROFL , sometimes yes there is , but alot of times just get on that ol' radio and find someone to run with and just talk and cut-up .

Since the 7th I left Lexngton,KY picked-up a load in Bowling Green,KY that went to L.A., ran up just north of Fresno for 12 skids of oranges, ran down to Yuma,AZ for the rest of the load by Tuesday morning, left there about 6 pm and ran with 3 of our other company trucks, got into St. Louis 11 am on Thursday , unloaded the stuff from Yuma, ran over to Warrenton unloaded the oranges at 6 am friday morning , by 10:30 am was in Booneville,mo and picked up a pre-loded trailer, ran all the way thru and got here to Phoenix,AZ at 9:30 pm last night just over a total of 6500 miles. Besides you make alot of friends out on the road, not to mention the fact that this country isn't quiet as big as you would think as often as you run into other drivers you've ran with or talked to here and there.

Sounds like you have had quite a busy week...I am going to see how this grant thing works...The Gov. says I am eligable because of the fact that I am a woman and we are considered a minority...If that doesn't work out then I am going to school for my CDL...I like to travel so might be the ideal job for me...

I love it , all the people you meet , all the places you get to see , it's wonderful. I don't think I"ll change to anything else , if I did it would be back to burying fiber optic lines and drilling.

But just to give you a heads up on what you'll get into, the first year youll prolly only make about $30 k no matter what any company you start with , no matter what they say , when you first start you'll have to run teams with a trainer for somewhere between 3-8 weeks pending on the company you'll make between $400 to $700 each week. And just to get a bit ahead of schooling , go to the DMV and get that book for getting your CDL , trust me it's alot easier if you get it and study the general knowledge, air brake system, and combination section, pending on what company you go with , might also study the hazmat section. But after studing , I would go ahead and go to the DMV and get ur permit all you have to do is take a test on general knowledge, cause the first week of schooling is to help you pass the test to get your permit. Also the schooling will prolly be 3 - 8 weeks depending on what school you go to , if you get the grant, then it'll be 8 weeks cause of being a PTDI ( not sure if that's correct) school and they're always 8 weeks long.

Just make sure you you can afford it cause it's rough starting out the first 3 months till your on your own in your own truck making your runs solo. Also if you go thru a company sponsored schooling , you'll have to sign a contract to stay with that company for 1-2 years , but if something happens and you don't like that company there are others that will take up that contract so you can go to a different company.

Just thought I"ld give you a heads up on getting started , and if you have any questions just let me know.

I hope it all goes well for you and hope you enjoy it .

Thank you for the info..It is something I am going to look into...I also like to travel and see diffrent places...

hi justme
women a minority? that doesnt exactly sound fair. but i guess maybe they are in that business.
i know a guy whose son drives for that company with the big orange trucks, whichever one that is. and he said they have a bed, microwave, tvs, computer and pretty much everything in it. that would be kinda nice.
i used to talk on the CB just for fun.

Well , my Christmas and New Years was spent out here on the road , but I'm not complaining at all . Was in on the 27 th though . But like I said if you have any question about the schooling or anything just let me know , if I don't know it , I've got enough people to call that prolly will , and I hope it all goes smooth and well for you. Also, something to consider , this isn't as much as a career or job as it is a lifestyle , that's what alot of people never say about this industry.
