alot of texas men really enjoy their hunting and fishing. Not saying thats a bad thing...but some of these texas men need to branch out!!!

If I had to generalize Texas men are somewhat less literate and educated than the national average. Although approximately 85% of the rest of the country disliked Bush, he's ok here and came back here to live.

Many think its sport to shoot defenseless animals and put some of the their body parts on their walls.

Texas has a higher rate of smokers than the rest of the country.

Otherwise many Texans are just like normal people.

Beware of those who have nothing to brag about except being a "Native Born Texan" something they had little to do with as it shows they have little real accomplishments to be proud of.

Don't mind Ocean. He's always on here trying to c**k block men. Calling them illiterate and such. Pointing out typos. Yet he still lives in Texas even though Texans in his words are poorly educated and stupid.

The info about Texas are simply facts- Google Rand Study on Education. I didn't say all Texans are poorly educated or stupid, on the other hand this person who doesn't need to be handed a line that Texas guys are any more special than those from other states. She's paying money to come here and might as well know the truth. We are pretty much like everyone else - and in a couple of areas somewhat below the rest of the country.

I live on the ocean and at least try to make things better-serving on the school board and helping kids improve their scores. We have one of the better school districts, however many of our children can not communicate effectively.

Ocean you irk me always trying to come off better than everyone else...that is all.

As for the question Texas men are fine, there's all types from city boys to country ones. You'll find them good and bad like everywhere. Have fun!

I agree with most - they are just like the rest of the country - good and bad. The only difference I have seen is that with those who are native Texans or live here most of their lives - the pride in their state that is not evident in men from other states. I've been here a little over 3 years.

As for ocean- I've seen his comments on other threads. OCEAN -why do you constantly keep trying to put others down...to make you feel better about yourself? It appears to me that you are not a happy person. Maybe you need to see a counselor. If you're not happy with who you are how do you expect anyone else to like you? Quit being so negative and stop the constant superior attitude - you are not superior, but you consider yourself that way - or at least that is how I perceive you.

If you want a serious answer probably half of Texas men are from other states- with a large segment coming from the midwest industrial states as well as the neighbors to the East and North.

There used to be great differences between people from different regions however television and greater mobility has made for little difference in the regions with the exception of politics. About 15% of Texans are Hispanic and the fewer generations they are removed from Mexico the more they act "Mexican" Mexico is more old fashioned and somewhat macho, so the culture allows more of a double standard and jealousy.
About 10% of Texas Males are Black and a bit over 1% Asian. There are some cultural differences but basically people are people.

Stereotyping and huge generalizations are for weak minds. Texans are not that different from those in other states especially southern ones.

The best advice for the lady visiting is when she gets here FORGET about the computer and go and see Texas and Texans. In the smaller towns Texans are definitely a friendly people and if she sees something she likes she should say "HI". Computer screens look the same all over the world.
