Hello everyone! This is not as extreme as it may sound. One can be winched up and down from a moving boat, no skills, no steering or "iffy" landings to fret about. They harness you in, fill the chute up and behind you with the wind created by moving the boat, and let the winch out...UP YOU GO! After a nice cruise, you are winched back into the boat, WOW! I'm told that the sport has its roots from right after WW-2, when some adventurers with imagination pulled their Army chutes on a tether behind motorcycles. I first tried it in Mazatlan, 1800' above a speed boat, off the Gold Coast. It was a bit trickier than a 200' winchline, I had to steer to the beach and land well. Having logged over 900 hours in small planes, with lots of aerobatics and freestyle, I'm no stranger to flight... but, without the noise, without the cockpit, using gear that fits in the trunk of your car... feet dangling, supported by the thick, invisible sky, landings like dropping a cherry, gently ontop of the milkshake... ahh, (nice, contented sigh).

Been to Mazatlan and took the same ride!! I was a little concerned that I would not be able to see the dude on the ground indicating I should steer in to shore. What an awesome experience.
In the same realm, I went sky-diving in Snohomish some time ago . . . you want to talk about rush! Take a deep breath and fall to earth, wind screaming past, goggles slipping off making eyes tear and then quiet calm, floating and, crap, the flight is over and I'm on the ground again.
