Does having a child or children stop you from dating the person?
What are your views..

Deffo not a problem at all. Having kids shouldn't be a problem I think. Although I suppose I could understand if some people felt a bit uneasy about it. But deffo not a problem for me.

No I have dated several single mothers and while none of them worked out kids where not the problem. Also I love kids so it was always cool doing kids stuff and going to the park but that is only for a time down the road.

I dont have kids so no...do you mean does it stop me from dating some one if they have kids?
then no again. We all have a past and Im not going to discriminate because some one has a family.

I would actively seek the guys with the kids over those without, just because I'm a single parent.

I have found on here that the mails stop from a large percentage of men as soon as the kids are mentioned. I've learned from that to mention them in perhaps the second or third email, shortens the time spent typing if they react badly!!!

I would do the same when i was looking for someone my current girlfriend has a kid too and it just makes it easier because people with kids understand the time constraints that exist when you have children, i've had girlfriends who havent had kids and although the say the understand that i dont have much free time it has lead to problems

no problem at all, and if someone does have a problem with kids, they are the one with the issues..

I wouldnt have a problem with it but do think that the people involved should not introduce their prospective partner to their kids straight away but wait until the relationship has developed on to a more serious stage,

I dated a single mother of 2 young children a few years ago and it definately put me off dating anymore single mothers, I think a single mother will date a man who she thinks will be a good father figure for her kids, This also leads me to think that she would date a man she wasnt sexually attracted to but purely because he is a "good" man who will be there for her and her children

No It doesn't stop me dating.
But the fact that I have regular access to mine seems to put the Women Off.

Not at all. I think it might stop you when you're in your early 20's but once you mature and reach a certain age you realise most women you meet will have kids. Can't expect people you meet to not have a past.

i think that is a harsh statement to make... that maybe how you found it in that one situation... but you shouldnt generalise..

i for one would not date anyone i wasnt sexually attracted to and I AM NOT looking for a father figure for my child...

i am looking for a partner for me as i am still a woman...

the man i choose to date has to understand that my child comes first and always will...

No offense Aimee, and i've heard that statement before, but i think it can give off a bad impression. Don't get me wrong, i get how having a child must change ones priorities, and to do everything you can to give them the very best up-bringing, but making such a statement can give a potential partner the impression that he can never be an important part of your life, which is never a good foot to start off on. I'm not saying at all that's what you mean to say, but just how such a statement can come across...

well if a man cannot understand how important my child is to me well he is not the man for me... people can take up that statement whatever way they want... my child is my child and always will be so he will come first..

if someone is important to me i will show it so the man im with will know how i feel about him...
