Think the only thing we know for sure Rob is Social Wefare for over 23's hit by 4%.
Under 23's not on a FAS course it will be halved.
Public Sector Pay hit by between 4% and 8%.
But retailers have been campaigning for the VAT on alcohol to be reduced to stop people going North for their beer.
We will know this time tomorrow though.uh oh uh oh

Well alcohol is too expensive GG and a lot are travelling up North for it. I think it has to be reduced to help save jobs down here.

I know you have had alcohol problems and you have to be comended for being clean and sober now but i don't think high alcohol prices is the way to cure Ireland drinking culture. It hasn't worked in Scandanavia. I think education is the way to do it.

Countries like France, Italy and Spain how very low costs for alcohol but they don't have the same alcohol prpblems we have in Ireland. Start educating the young kids now in school and hopefully in 20 years time we will see a big change.

Think you might not get cut Rob...I am nearly sure it is under 23 year olds who still live with their parents.

It just seems to be the wrong time for making booze more available. I would rather have seen a cut in the overall VAT rate and the price of essentials.

According to the news alcohol will be cut by 20% to stem the flow of people buying their drink in the north, I still think it will be cheaper in the northlaugh

I am not sure if they are cutting the VAT rate on booze but i know retailers wanted them to. I think the price of booze does not help or hinder the alcohol culture here(Just my opinion). People will always find the money to drink if they are addicted and there is always the ceaper alcohol to buy when funds are short. I agree that this recession is going to drive a lot of people further into their drinking problem and making alcohol cheaper won't help but i think we need to educate kids starting in infants to be honest.

No they don't. You get rent allownace from the community welfare officer not the social. It depends on your circumstances like where you live, the type of place you live in, weather you have family, if you have savings and many other things. And even if you do fit the bill they will probably only pay a % of your rent.

Unless you have a huge stash in the bank, you are entitled to rent allowance.
blipper2000 dublin, Dublin Ireland
drink will not be made cheaper
id bet my left testicle on it ,theres no chance
there would be a loss of tax revenue and kids can buy cheaper drink
i dont think so
