It was to describe the "New male" well dressed, well groomed, complete with tan, manicure and of course perfect teeth. There was a industry drive behind it which saw a new market for cosmetics in this area. In the early '80's a lot of guys wore make-up. (Yes I too) without any fear of dispersions being cast on sexual preference.

Seems very conservative now in comparison.

So PT, does the word still mean the same now as then? and are they still the same 'type' or has it advanced beyond makeup, perfect teeth, and tan if it was previously conservative?help lips

I think the reality is that a "New" man did not emerge and in fact the biggest cultural change was and is the emergence of the "Post feminist" Woman. These are the Women who work, bring up kids and look damm good as well. They also treat men with respect which was not shown by a lot of the older Feminists that basically blamed Men for all ills in the World.

MMMmmmm.... I sometimes think that a lot of the bashing in the Intl is bashing for bashing's sake. There are people there with real personal Man/Woman hating issues.

So is a metrosexual person saying anything new about their sexuality, or is all an image thing? or has it become a defining word, like heterosexual, or homosexual, is it a new 'type', no offense meant here anyonerolling on the floor laughing lips

I think that we can dress very well, and be well groomed as well as masculine. I also think it feel more natural to be like this than either extreme.

As for smell...................................I think I have posted enough on this subjectrolling on the floor laughing

The Metro is the Female aesthetic adopted by the male. The adoption of the male work ethic by the female does not seem to have a name. I have seen "Hemale" used but does not seem to stick. I wonder if it does not need a word because it is not a "fashion" or trend, it is how women are now and will stay I would think.
