The (apparatently) large CS get together in Dublin suggests that a lot of people can move from "virtual" to "reality". rolling on the floor laughing cheering angel devil

I never turn on the TV anymore, and only buy a newspaper at weekend nowadays. Yhe internet gives me access to whatever i would normally get from TV and newspapers, as well as access to whatever movies, music and books I need or want.

I never write a letter anymore, send and recieve about 100 times the mail in the same time though. With CS it now also gives me access to a social life.

I also work with computers everyday.

It has become a huge part of my life, addicted? yeah definitely addicted to life

This is interactive TV, It is not passive like TV, it empowers people.thumbs up

A doctor tried to tell it to me in '97, haven't agreed to it yet :P Although, my eyes needs a bit of help from lenses or glasses. And the eye-doctor now makes a nice penny :P

When I grew up, the TV would have been the centre of the family in the evening, as with most households.

In my home now, it's our networked PCs, all custom-built by me. My daughter has her own PC in her room, my son splits his computer time between the main PC in the living room and the one in my bedroom, and I've one hooked up to the TV running as a DVD player, playing downloaded movies and tv episodes, and also using it as a games cosole.

I have just 2 RL friends - one who comes up to tell me her problems, the other I only see when he has a problem with his PC. Any other social contact, I have here, through other sites, on MSN Live Messenger or on Second Life.

All my work is PC-based, from building machines for people to writing code.

Other than food or paying bills, virtually all purchases I make are online, whether it's computer parts, a new guitar or birthday presents - I never go into a bricks-and-mortar shop to buy something unless it's extremely urgent and I'm badly stuck (I'm now starting to buy my clothes online too).

So yes, in a nutshell, I'm an addict.grin
