I'd have had no trouble sleeping next to Harold Shipman in prison. Killing his prison cell mate was just not his modus operandi.

And in prison the officers would never put you in a cell with someone that posed a significant risk to you. They'd lose their jobs if they did.


Oh, and in general, sexual offenders make the most hard-working, best behaved prisoners.

Young offenders are the worst behaved male prisoners.

Female prisons tend to have a lot more "incidents" than male prisons.

And almost every prisoner will tell you either "I didn't do it." or "I'm never going to do it again."

They're not going to proove themselves wrong by murdering their cell mates - unless they're absolutely completely crazy in a total lack of self control way - in which case someone like me would never get to share a cell with them anyway. Or at least not in the UK anyway.
