damshoppin: I've forgotten how tedious this is.. Been in the same home for over 30 years, now its time to move on..

Over the longterm the housing market will go down as the post-Thatcher economy was built upon borrowing on your inflated property prices to fuel a consumer boom in a nation that creates and produces nothing(our money without means economy). This also allowed white collar baby boomers to disembowl our industry and our inner cities to become a non-productive and parasitic rent-seeking class, or basically a way for the old to steal from the young and the middle class to steal from the workers.

But the currency will devaluate as exporters, manufacturers and the productive men of the tribe wrestle control of the nation from the cubicle farmers, non-jobbers and rent-seekers, and what this means to you is that you shouldn't leave it too long between selling your house and buying a new one. Your money in the bank will lose significant value longterm. If you want to rent for a long time before buying another house, I'd consider investing your savings abroad(the South Korean stock market would be a good idea).

Ohhh God, I don't envy you, my friend. I have just moved house and its not just a nightmare, its a trauma!

And, ya know that film with Michael Douglas.... 'Falling Down' I think it was called? Well, if I could get hold of a gun, I'd go on a rampage and blow away (on a nationwide scale) every estate agent I could find.

They wonder why they get bad press..... piranhas!!

If it helps, be meticulous and plan each stage to ease the hassle for yourself. Your saving grace will be an excellent removals firm. Mine were a God-Send, truly!

Good luck cheers

That sounds great Redex!

Wish I could do the same. thumbs up

Got my 22 yo so still at home, but that is teetering on the brink of 'get out!' - and my 19 yo daughter moved back home after a year out renting sigh

She couldn't sell her 'L' shaped brown suede lounge so it is here in my smallish lounge along with my 2 & 3 seater lounge. doh

Beginning to resemble a doctors surgery waiting room, come in, take a number and a seat, any seat. frustrated

Don't know how long I can be like this?
