Society has got ruder Graham and I think its down to the pace of life and family values. Many more people are independant nowdays and want everything in a hurry. Neighbours and family are less important and people don't want you in "My Space".

Also you could argue there is little communication between people because of fear and crime, and....cultural and language barriers. Sadly, much of the latter may be due to the fear of persecution as large immigrant populations still tend to cluster together and have little faith in our social system. We are just as weary of them because of the continuous threat of Terrorism and cultural practices.

Long gone are the days when your Grandma went on about leaving your front door open and everyone would pop in and out. These days you are more likely to find someone stealing your jewellery and your DVD player.
