Actually, I think we should tackle the "do badders" before the do gooders.

Decent people are decent people, no matter where they come from, so I don't think that running anyone down who doesn't pass the famous "cricket test" is fair.

Unfortunately we have a society that almost accepts violence on the streets as inevitable, with some seeing this as the normal way to go about their lives. Added to that, greed is almost seen as a virtue in business. Whether it be City slickers gambling on stocks with no regard for the results of their actions, or bosses treating their staff like crap to increase profits, it's all leads to a poorer society for us all to live in.

Some famous guy once said that you should do unto others what you would have them do unto you. Basically, respect yourself and respect others. If we could get back to something basic like that, a lot of the other problems would sort themselves out. Hey, whatever happened to that guy?

I go with that and the tax payer here or in Yankland where its a badge of honour to be a Greed Merchant or Wall street crook should NOT be bailing them or London City Puss heads out after what parasite Bankers with a typo in the job title have done to wreck the firms they worked for - and the country.

well pete doherty is a sad case. a victim of drugs, media and record company greed. much like amy winehouse. the first libertines album is fantastic and it's a shame that it all collapsed so quickly. given more time and proper management they could have become one of the great british bands but instead, greed and bad management destroyed them

during the 80's the gov under thacher had a big problem with the lower middle classes IE.. miners and factory workers dockers, fisheries ETC...ETC...ETC

saving energy and iraq ... whilst feeding our greed

our elderly are dying undignified our children are caged up on games machines, and were still not looking for the truth !

only people who have work hard in the uk ,live for many years and generation,contribute to taxes and other expenses,can answer
slightly,those elected in the house of parliament can answer,
many britons are working overseas,many foreigners coming to the uk ,britain is still progressing in europe,
in fact no one has the answer

We, the people of Great Britain, have created a culture of “lack of respect” and the inability to accept responsibility for our own actions. It no good blaming our Government, we the people put them in power and so should accept the results of that vote.
Better still, instead of wasting or throwing away your vote, as someone mentioned on a previous post, use that vote to put in power a government that will do as the people want.
And if you think all the parties available are much the same then the “people” should make a loud voice declaring the type of political party they would vote for.
I personally would vote for any party that abolished all religions and created one worldwide one, that used prayer as a peaceful way to learn about self awareness and the beauty of the natural world that surrounds us. With a voluntary membership.
Not how to force by any means that “Our religion” is better than yours so either accept it or die, and I fully accept that almost all religions have at some point in history done just that.

If the ballot were made compulsory and all voting slips had an abstention box to register one's X meeting the election of an alternative would be more democratic and MIGHT have a chance but even pliticail parastie analists have said there is nothing to choose between the three mainparties and the others are mainly naieve, cranks or far Right with a hidden agenda < facism)

Furthermore, if proportional representation was operated, according to successive after election published voting percentges, we would NOT have the successive minority governments we have had under politically immature *first past the post* system of so called 'democracy'.

WE *might* then get something near to what Kevin is saying and certainly better than the status quo ( not the band:-)

Being an Agnostic part Jew and indigenous to the UK, I am of the opinion that abolishion of Religion would play into the hands of extremists of all races and religions and there would be the bloodbath worse than Enoch Powell foresaw!
