I am with you. Dave Allen was very funny.
My all time favourite sketch of his,was the one where the pope was being carried down some steps,in his sedan,(or whatever).
But one of the popes carriers (or whatever),loses his footing on the steps,and the whole shebang (or whatever),comes crashing down the steps,in a very untidy,highly undignified,but gloriously funny heap.
