uglysister: im hoping that i have brought the boys up to have a responsible attitude to having a sociable drink and not drinking to get drunk.
my oldest is 14 and never been in an intoxicated state. i do give him the odd shandy or bottle of beer if we are at a family get together but he knows he is only allowed to do that if im present...............fingers crossed seems to be the best way so far.
as for my mother giving them drink................she wouldnt dare!! and they are not allowed to go near if she has been drinking which fortunately these days is on rare occassions.

yes, Uptall, i tried loving an alcoholic...it's impossible...believe me i tried...she had no love for herself...and couldn't accept mine..and yes..your love does love the bottle much more than she will ever love you...it's the cold reality.

as much as i would love to say it isnt true...........i think you have hit the nail on the head. with an alcoholic the next drink is more important to them than ANYTHING else in their lives.
