No I am suggesting what we call a process of "Romanization" of the Provence. Rome was well aware of Britain even before the Gaius Julius Caesar invasion. Society within Britain before was complex the only thing the Romans did was to Romanize it. Examples of this can be seen in Romano-Celtic art/craft work. The Romans did not just invade they had what is called Client Kingdoms (fishbourn) being a prime example.

i kinda think we did ourselves a bit of a diservice when the romans pulled out.....makes ya wonder with all they gave us...central heating bathing etc...i wonder where we as a nation would have been today...how far advanced we'd be....took us anoth 3,000 years to get central heating back......

Thank God Scotland will be a free and independent Nation once more and soon! divide and rule is destructive and used for polititcal gain and power we in Scotland have had great experience of it's effect on society. If Scotland was to become independent, it would be interesting how long peace would be there, the religious divide is still there, and the economy would be shaky to say the least, especially if England demanded the return of all investments made such as the banks and of course the oil fields, I cannot think of anything that is solely produced in Scotland that can support the economy, but open to suggestions.

With regards to the religious belief of the royal family, for them to include Catholics, well why not, there is not suggestion however that the royal family should change their faith, and to my recollection the heir to the throne and his sons are not Catholics.

The revenue created by the Royal family far outweighs the loss that would occur if they were to be abolished, and in all fairness the Prince Charles fund has provided a huge amount of money for those young people to start new business's, I accept that some of the hangers on are beyond the pale and should be removed, but if we had a president, there would be just the same hangers on, plus who would you vote as President, we have enough trouble voting for a PM.

My understanding was that it was money from England that originally financed the north sea oil fields, something that created a vast number of jobs for the Scottish. regarding the banks, I was referring to the bailout of HBOS, if you had been independent, Scotland would have had to borrow from the imf at some huge cost, as it is this cost is being paid for by your and my tax.

The oil fields, I would just point out are outside of Scottish water, and are owned by BP a company based in London.

It has been forecast that the 2007 GNP for Scotland including the revenue from the oil, will be around £70 billion, with the rest of the united kingdom producing some £2000 billion, £70 billion would put Scotland at about 50 in the list of countries just below Egypt, It was also shown that with this amount of money Scotland would not be able to sustain a health service or armed forces without huge impact on the unemployed, a major problem in Scotland especially at this time.
