If Scotland was to become independent, it would be interesting how long peace would be there, the religious divide is still there, and the economy would be shaky to say the least, especially if England demanded the return of all investments made such as the banks and of course the oil fields, I cannot think of anything that is solely produced in Scotland that can support the economy, but open to suggestions.
With regards to the religious belief of the royal family, for them to include Catholics, well why not, there is not suggestion however that the royal family should change their faith, and to my recollection the heir to the throne and his sons are not Catholics.
The revenue created by the Royal family far outweighs the loss that would occur if they were to be abolished, and in all fairness the Prince Charles fund has provided a huge amount of money for those young people to start new business's, I accept that some of the hangers on are beyond the pale and should be removed, but if we had a president, there would be just the same hangers on, plus who would you vote as President, we have enough trouble voting for a PM.
