Thanks Jo, I'll try the inhalers but something else has just slapped me straight out of the blue, stopping now seems even more worthwhile.

I was talking to someone last week, smoking a fag as usual and I made a comment along the lines of life is full of suprises and here I am.

I'm almost speechless.

I'm off on a tangent, so thanks for the advise and look out future here I come.

The physical withdrawl is 72 hours, so you have done it cheers Well done!

I wonder the value of patches, given the length of time of withdrawl they are just prolonging the problems. confused I wonder if they are trying to sell more patches?laugh

I have tried a few times! The pound shop in shirley is doing nicotine chewing gum! That helps! And cheaper than patches too!

Good luck!grin

A homer simpson moment: 72 hours!!doh I thought it was three days.

Seriously though I think your comment on the patches is quite valid.

I've got some inhalors and more importantly I now have a renewed sense of purpose, the inhalors are emergency only as I'm sticking with cold turkey and nice thoughts.

Thanks for all your input and support.

i am very close to giving up, i am taking a different way through and lowing the number i have each week, was 20 a day i reduced by 2 a day every week,it works well i am down to 10 a day now and feel no different in wanting to smoke so for me its a great way of doing it

soon ill try 5 a day then ill try hack it completely,at 5 day you have alot less risk of really bad withdrawel it makes it eaiser and if you cut down in stages it also take away the factor of slipping and starting again

id reconmend this way over patches gum groups etc any day thumbs up

everyone is different though so not everything will work the same way for everyone

good luck to you

Kizzy,you just 'stole my thunder'.
A friend of mine,a 60 a day man for years, told me about this tablet when i happened to mention that i wished my sister could give up smoking.
He said he has made many attempts to give up,over the years, using different methods, but without success.
He said giving up was easy, with this tablet, and the best thing is,there is no craving.(Some people who have managed to give up,by other methods,or by sheer willpower, have told me that the craving is always there,at the back of their mind.)
What surprises me,is that so few people wanting to give up,have heard of this 'miracle' pill.

Looks good but there seems to be some bad press lurking around

I think it's prescription only so your GP would have to decide on suitability.

I think I'm through the worst and muleguy52 you're dead right about the craving lurking in the back of your mind.

i stopped smoking about 10 years ago, at the time i as in ful training and it was holding me back, so i just stopped, the one thing that did take my mind off it was the phisical exercise that i was doing,
belive me even when i did smoke the last thing you want after a5 mile jog and then sprinting is a faglaugh laugh you feel as if your chest was about to cave in as it waslaugh but thats one thing that helped me,
but some of the hardest times would be just after someting to eat,and the worst is drinking,
but just stick to it, it dos get easyer, but i will say that every now and then, not ofden, but just evry blue moon i might get a wif of smoke and think wow i feel like a drag off that, but 95% of the time it doesnt bother me and even the litte times it does, its still not enough to make me start smoking again.

so just hang in there and try to keep your self busy, becouse its when you stop and sit down that you start to think about it.

good luckthumbs up

Yep, we have that here too and im going to try it soon - at the moment you can only get it on prescription and by attending 'stop smoking' clinics and there isnt one at my local gp surgery till they finish the refurbishments - soon though.......

Ive heard great stories about how effective it is and actually know a few people who have stopped this way - woo hoo - hope is on the horizon cheering

Well done paidinfull - I hope you are sticking with it thumbs up
